On February 18, 2025, during a campaign by the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Chhatra Dal, on the campus of the Khulna University of Engineering & Technology, [2] a group of students began protesting against them as they wanted a "politics-free campus." [2] This would end up becoming a clash between the general students (under the banners of Shibir and the Anti-discrimination Students Movement) and Chhatra Dal members, alongside some regular BNP members. [2] [4]
The clash would result in at least fifty people being injured [4] [5] and five detained, [2] the clash would lead to the interim government deploying two platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh, [2] alongside Navy personnel, [4] soldiers of the Army, [4] and RAB personnel, [4] to the Khulna University of Engineering & Technology to prevent further clashes.
