On September 20, 2025, a shooting occurred at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, New Hampshire, United States. One person was killed and two others were injured by gunfire when a person opened fire during a wedding. Four others received wounds caused by means that were not gunshot-related, including those gotten by escaping, having contact with broken glass or debris falling on them. [1] [2]
At approximately 7:30 p.m. local time, Nashua police and emergency medical services responded to reports of an active shooter at the Sky Meadow Country Club, located off Mountain Laurels Drive. [3]
Witnesses reported gunshots in an attached restaurant, where a man was fatally shot and appeared to have been targeted, and that the suspect walked through the kitchen from the dance floor where he flipped guests off before exiting through a back door. [4] A wedding guest reported that the suspect said "Free Palestine" and "The children are safe". [5] [6]
Law enforcement from New Hampshire and Massachusetts responded to the shooting, and the 23-year-old male suspect was detained at the scene. [7] The suspect was allegedly employed as food service staff at the country club.
In response to the threat, the neighboring town of Dunstable, Massachusetts, issued a shelter-in-place order as a precautionary measure. [8]
The slain victim was identified as 59-year-old Robert DeCesare, a resident of the country club. Two other people were shot during the attack. Several other people were injured while fleeing the gunfire. [7]
The suspect was identified by the office of the New Hampshire attorney general as 23-year-old ex-country club employee Hunter Nadeau of Nashua, and was charged with second-degree murder. He was reportedly fired from Sky Meadow very recently before the shooting. [7] According to authorities, he had no known personal connection to Robert DeCesare, and more charges were to be expected for the injuries inflicted on the other victims. [9]
The incident prompted a significant law enforcement response, with local police, state authorities, and emergency services coordinating efforts. The community expressed shock, as shootings of this nature are rare in the Nashua area. [10]
