Topics

Some changes to existing themes and topics were updated. [1] In September 2024 the Australian Bureau of Statistics reviewed topics for the 2026 census which included 12 existing topics. After testing, 10 existing topics will be changed in how they are asked. Including increasing the number of ancestries collected from two to four for better reflection, religious affiliation, health to include 'liver disease' and 'migraine' for a range of long-term health conditions.
