44 Magnum (stylized as 44MAGNUM) are a Japanese heavy metal band, [1] originally formed in Osaka Prefecture in mid-1977. [2] They were one of the first Japanese metal bands.
44 Magnum was originally formed in 1977 by vocalist Tatsuya "Paul" Umehara. After recruiting guitarist Satoshi "Jimmy" Hirose and bassist Hironori "Ban" Yoshikawa in 1979, the classic line-up was finalized when Satoshi "Joe" Miyawaki joined on drums in 1982. The band made their major label debut the following year with the album Danger. [3] Joe left the band in 1988. [4] 44 Magnum disbanded in 1989. [3]
After thirteen years, 44 Magnum reunited in 2002 and released their seventh album Ignition. [3] Bassist Ban left the band in 2009. That year, they released a self-titled album featuring new members Shuse, formerly of La'cryma Christi, on bass and Stevie, Paul's son, as a lead singer alongside Paul on most of the tracks. [3] [5]
In early 2012, frontman and sole original member Paul announced he would stop performing live shows to focus on his treatment for Parkinson's disease, which he was diagnosed with in 2005. [6] However, he continues to record and write songs with the band, [6] and still makes occasional live appearances. Bassist Ban returned to 44 Magnum for the 30th anniversary of their debut in 2013. On February 3, 2022, 44 Magnum announced that Ban was no longer a part of the band. [7] A little over a week later, Sexx George of the band Ladies Room was announced as support bassist. [8]

The Nippon Budokan, often shortened to simply Budokan, is an indoor arena in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. It was originally built for the inaugural Olympic judo competition in the 1964 Summer Olympics. While its primary purpose is to host martial arts contests, the arena has gained additional fame as one of the world's most outstanding musical performance venues. The Budokan was a popular venue for Japanese professional wrestling for a time, and it has hosted numerous other sporting events, such as the 1967 Women's Volleyball World Championship. Most recently, the arena hosted the Olympic debut of karate in the 2020 Summer Olympics, as well as the judo competition at both the 2020 Summer Olympics and the 2020 Summer Paralympics.
Közi is a Japanese musician, singer-songwriter and DJ. He is best known as one of the guitarists for the 1990s visual kei rock band Malice Mizer. After they went on indefinite hiatus in 2001, he formed the industrial rock duo Eve of Destiny and also started a solo career. Közi is currently in the bands XA-VAT, ZIZ and Vamquet, while occasionally performing solo shows.
Casiopea, now known in its fourth iteration as Casiopea-P4, is a Japanese jazz fusion band formed in 1976 by guitarist Issei Noro, bassist Tetsuo Sakurai, drummer Tohru "Rika" Suzuki, and keyboardist Hidehiko Koike. In 1977, keyboardist Minoru Mukaiya and drummer Takashi Sasaki replaced Koike and Suzuki respectively. They recorded their debut album Casiopea (1979) with guest appearances by American jazz musicians Randy Brecker, Michael Brecker, and David Sanborn. In 1980, drummer Akira Jimbo joined the band. Casiopea has released over 40 albums in Japan and around the world.
Taiji Sawada, also known mononymously as Taiji, was a Japanese musician and songwriter. He is best known as the former bassist of the rock band X Japan. X Japan rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s, credited as founders of the Japanese visual kei movement. After leaving X Japan in January 1992, Taiji went on to work with many other bands, including Loudness and D.T.R.
Boøwy was a Japanese rock band formed in Takasaki, Gunma in 1981. The classic lineup of vocalist Kyosuke Himuro, guitarist Tomoyasu Hotei, bassist Tsunematsu Matsui, and drummer Makoto Takahashi reached legendary status in Japan during the 1980s.
Mari Hamada is a Japanese heavy metal and pop rock singer. Since her debut in 1983, Hamada has been known as the "Heavy Metal Queen" of Japan. Throughout her career, she has released 25 singles and 23 studio albums.
Kiyonobu Inoue, better known exclusively by his stage name Inoran, is a Japanese musician, singer and songwriter. He is best known as the rhythm guitarist and co-founder of the rock band Luna Sea since 1986. He started his solo career in 1997. Luna Sea disbanded in 2000, and he formed Fake? with Oblivion Dust vocalist Ken Lloyd a year later. In 2005 he left Fake? and founded Tourbillon with Luna Sea vocalist Ryuichi Kawamura and Hiroaki Hayama. He rejoined Luna Sea when they reunited in 2010, and in 2012 formed Muddy Apes with bassist Taka Hirose and guitarist Dean Tidey, both from Feeder, and 8otto's vocalist Maeson. In 2011, Inoran became the first Japanese musician to have a signature model guitar with Fender.
Michael Joseph Moody is an English guitarist, and a former member of the rock bands Juicy Lucy and Whitesnake. He was also a founder-member of Snafu. Together with his former Whitesnake colleague Bernie Marsden he founded the Moody Marsden Band, and later, The Snakes, having previously collaborated with unofficial 5th Status Quo member Bob Young in Young & Moody. Along with Marsden and ex-Whitesnake bassist, Neil Murray, he formed The Company of Snakes and M3 Classic Whitesnake with which they mainly performed early Whitesnake songs. From 2011 to 2015, Moody toured and recorded with Snakecharmer, a band he co-formed.
La'cryma Christi was a Japanese visual kei rock band originally active from 1991 to 2007. At their peak, they were considered one of "the big four of visual kei" alongside Fanatic Crisis, Malice Mizer and Shazna. They reunited for a concert in 2009 at the V-Rock Festival, for their short reunion tour in 2010, and for a 15th anniversary tour in 2012.
Outrage is a Japanese thrash metal band, formed in Nagoya in 1982. They made their debut in 1987 with a lineup of Yosuke Abe on guitar, Yoshihiro Yasui on bass, Shinya Tange on drums and Naoki Hashimoto on vocals. Hashimoto left the band in 1999, but the group continued as a three piece and he returned in 2007. With a career spanning over four decades, Outrage are one of few Japanese metal bands to have never disbanded or paused activities.
Toe, stylized as toe, is a Japanese post-rock/math rock band from Tokyo. The group was founded in 2000, and consists of Kashikura Takashi (drums), Mino Takaaki (guitar), Yamane Satoshi, and Yamazaki Hirokazu (guitar).

Memento Mori is the sixteenth album by Japanese rock band Buck-Tick, released on February 18, 2009. The limited edition came with a DVD of the making of the album. It reached number seven on the Oricon chart with 23,410 copies sold.
Luke Takamura is a Japanese musician, singer, and songwriter. He is best known as guitarist of the heavy metal band Seikima-II from 1987 to 1999, and for various temporary reunions since. From 2002 to 2020, he was the lead singer and guitarist of the rock trio Canta. Luke was voted the tenth greatest Japanese guitarist in a 2019 poll held by goo. He has cited Yuji Adachi, Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen and Kazumi Watanabe as guitar influences.
La Vie En Rose is the debut album by Japanese rock band D'erlanger, released on February 10, 1989. It was instantly successful, having to be reissued three times that year alone. The 1991 release reached number 25 on the Oricon Albums Chart and charted for 5 weeks.
Personz is a Japanese rock band formed in 1983 by lead vocalist Jill, guitarist Tsukasa Tanaka, bassist Mitsugu Watanabe, and drummer Tsutomu Fujita. In 1992, Tanaka left the band and was replaced by Takeshi Honda.
Mari Hamada Live Tour 2016 "Mission" is a live video by Japanese singer/songwriter Mari Hamada, released on February 22, 2017 by Meldac/Tokuma Japan. Recorded live on July 18, 2016 at the Tokyo International Forum Hall A as the final show of Hamada's Mission tour, the video was released on Blu-ray and DVD. To promote the video, Hamada and guitarist Nozomu Wakai hosted a one-night premium screening at the Shinjuku Piccadilly on March 2.
30th Anniversary Mari Hamada Live Tour -Special- is a live video by Japanese singer/songwriter Mari Hamada, released on January 7, 2015, by Meldac/Tokuma Japan. Recorded live on April 27, 2014, at the Tokyo International Forum Hall A as the final show of Hamada's 30th anniversary tour, the video was released on DVD and was Hamada's first Blu-ray release. The show features guest guitarist Akira Takasaki of Loudness on Hamada's performance of "Stay Gold".
Mari Hamada Live Tour 2012 "Legenda" is a live video by Japanese singer/songwriter Mari Hamada, released on December 5, 2012 by Meldac/Tokuma Japan on DVD. The video was recorded live on May 26, 2012 at the Nakano Sunplaza as the final show of Hamada's Legenda tour.
