595 is the second live album released by American indie rock band Karate, released on October 8, 2007 on Southern Records. It was originally recorded on May 5, 2003. [1] The album, along with the rest of the band's discography, was reissued in 2021 by The Numero Group. [2]
Karate formed in 1993 and released seven albums before disbanding in 2005. Throughout their time together, the band allowed sound technicians to record their shows and received dozens of recordings in varying qualities. A recording of their 595th concert in Leuven, Belgium stood out to them as their favorite live performance, [3] as it was in extremely high quality. The band decided to release the live album officially as their first fully official live album (they released Concerto al Barchessone Vecchio in 2003, but it is partially unofficial).
Aaron Leitko of Pitchfork gave the album a 7 and said the album "proves that Farina and his cohorts weren't wet noodles. Beyond the tube amp obsession and the couplets about refrigerator noise, Karate was actually a dynamic and exciting band. And they were even better when somebody was watching." [4]
Corey Kahn of AllMusic gave the album four stars out of five and said "this careful song selection and their flawless performances that justify the posthumous release of this live album, making it a real treat for fans who thought they'd never hear the sound of these three talented musicians on-stage again." [5]
Alarm Magazine said that "recording quality is an important aspect of a live record, and though it doesn’t compare to the importance of the material itself, this is where Karate shines. Maintaining an air of improvisation and interpretation of their material, Karate manage to come back from jazz deviations straight into solid pop songwriting." [3]
Mike Diver with Drowned in Sound said "this echo of Karate’s quite singular excellence reaffirms their critical standing as one of the best bands to have ever called the Southern stable home." [6]
No Fade Out named the album their album of the week in January 2022 and said the album "is the best farewell the band could give to their numerous and loyal fans, but also a wonderful meeting point for those who don't know Karate." [7]

Silent Alarm is the debut studio album by English rock band Bloc Party. Recorded in Copenhagen and London in mid-2004 with Paul Epworth as producer, it was released on 2 February 2005, by Wichita Recordings. The album peaked at number three on the UK Albums Chart. Liars are an Australian-American experimental rock band formed in Brooklyn, New York, in 2000. Angus Andrew is the founding and only constant member of Liars, currently joined by multi-instrumentalist Cameron Deyell and drummer Laurence Pike. Aaron Hemphill played with the band from their inception until his amicable departure from the project in 2017. Julian Gross joined the band for their second album They Were Wrong, So We Drowned in 2004, and played with the band until his departure in 2014. Liars have released ten studio albums and are signed to Mute Records. Stylistically, they combine elements of rock and punk with experimental electronica, with Andrew crediting influences such as Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), The Cure, PJ Harvey, Underworld, The Doors and Michael Franks.
The National is an American rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio, formed in Brooklyn, New York City, in 1999. The band consists of Matt Berninger (vocals), twin brothers Aaron Dessner and Bryce Dessner, as well as brothers Scott Devendorf (bass) and Bryan Devendorf (drums). During live performances, the band is joined by longtime touring members, Ben Lanz and Kyle Resnick. Carin Besser, the wife of Berninger, is not a band member but has written lyrics for the band alongside her husband since its 2007 album Boxer.
Scabdates is the second official live recording from the band The Mars Volta. Faded Seaside Glamour is the debut studio album by English rock band Delays, released on 5 April 2004 through Rough Trade Records. After the end of their previous band Corky, the members formed Delays; lead singer Greg Gilbert recruited his brother Aaron, a keyboardist, into the band after hearing him play a loop. The band signed to Rough Trade Records after its founder Geoff Travis saw them perform live. Delays recorded the album in three months with producers Duncan Lewis and Graham Sutton at Rockfield Studios in Rockfield, Monmouthshire, Dustsucker Sound in Hackney, London, and Moles Studio in Bath, Somerset. Faded Seaside Glamour is an indie pop and dream pop album that has been compared to the works of Cocteau Twins, Geneva and The La's, and Greg Gilbert's vocals have been compared to those of Stevie Nicks and Elizabeth Fraser.
Sunset Rubdown is a Canadian art rock music group from Montreal. The band began as a solo project for Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade, who released his debut, Snake's Got a Leg, in early 2005.
