Anthony Melas, better known by his stage name A!MS (pronounced "aims") or his previous stage name A.M. SNiPER, is an English-Cypriot rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur. [1]
A!MS made his debut as a member of So Solid Crew [2] before launching his solo career. [3] In 2018, he was nominated for the "Man of the Year" award by Cyprus' MAD magazine for his contribution to the island's music scene and the culture of Ayia Napa. [4] He has collaborated with and produced for artists such as Cool & Dre, [5] The Game, [5] Oxide & Neutrino, [6] and Wiley. [7] [8]
In 2020, shortly after the release of his single "Diablo", A!MS showcased part of his Ayia Napa home in an episode of Cribs, a Trace+ streaming series based on the MTV series of the same name. [9] He was also featured in the car culture magazine Fast Car, in which he exhibited part of his collection of sports cars. [10] In 2021, he released the single "Honor" featuring Projexx, Julian Marley, and AV Allure, which was co-produced by Cool & Dre. [11]
The D.C. sniper attacks were a series of coordinated shootings that occurred during three weeks in October 2002 throughout the Washington metropolitan area, consisting of the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, and preliminary shootings, that consisted of murders and robberies in several states, and lasted for six months starting in February 2002. Seven people were killed, and seven others were injured in the preliminary shootings, and ten people were killed and three others were critically wounded in the October shootings. In total, the snipers killed 17 people and wounded 10 others in a 10-month span.

The 2019 Cyprus rape allegation case is a high-profile case of a reported gang rape in Cyprus. In July 2019, a 19-year old British woman on holiday in Ayia Napa reported she had been gang raped by twelve Israeli tourists. The Israeli men were subsequently arrested and investigated over the allegation by the Cyprus Police, but they were released without charge and the woman was charged for making a false allegation. In January 2020, the woman was convicted of "public mischief" in a Cypriot court and received a suspended sentence. Her conviction was overturned in 2022 by the Cypriot Supreme Court on the grounds that she had not received a fair trial. The woman has maintained that she was pressured to retract her statement, something contested by Cypriot authorities. The case triggered intense international scrutiny.
