Michael Harvey Jr. (born 1 May 1979), better known as MC Harvey or simply Harvey, is a British rapper. He first came to fame in the early 2000s as a member of rap group So Solid Crew before then pursuing a solo career in 2008. In 2012, he was a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother 10 .
Harvey was born in Plymouth, Devon, the son of Michael Harvey, a bodybuilder and former Gladiators participant "Bullit". [1] Harvey (Sr.) owns a record label, Artiste Promotion & Management (APM), to which Harvey was once signed.
Growing up on the Plough Road area of Battersea in South London, Harvey was one of the founder members of UK garage collective So Solid Crew. So Solid Crew's first album They Don't Know was released in October 2001, followed by a remix album entitled Fuck It in December 2001. They also had tracks on the UK garage CD series Pure Garage . In 2002 Harvey and the rest of So Solid Crew were the subject of the Channel 4 television documentary, This Is So Solid, directed and narrated by David Upshal. [2] This was later released on DVD by Universal along with a live performance. [3] [4]
After leaving the band, Harvey released his first solo single, "Get Up and Move", which went into the charts at number 24. His debut album Back to the Beginning was released in 2008 and produced singles "Excuse Me Miss", which featured Romeo and Asher D, and "If I Was Your Man", featuring Nathan. The album failed to chart.
It 2011 Harvey released Hot Gyal Ft. Mista Brown and Gyptian, which was a big hit on the clubscene. In 2012, he released another song called "Finally Along" with Lady Lesharr and former footballer Leon McKenzie; a new album is to follow. The same night he entered Big Brother he released a new mixtape that is available to download from his Twitter.
He made his theatre début in London's West End in the musical Daddy Cool in 2006.
He joined the line-up of Angie Le Mar's play The Brothers at the Hackney Empire in 2008. The play was broadcast on MTV Base. He also had a hit show on MTV Base called The Young Gods of Comedy. He visited Robertsbridge Community College as a motivational speaker about the music industry, singing songs and inviting students to show their rapping skills.
He appeared in the 2010 British gangster film The Big I Am as Robbo. In 2011, Harvey starred in Jason Barrett's British feature film The Naked Poet, playing Richard.
Harvey has also appeared on reality TV shows The Games on Channel Four in 2003 (which he won) and several series of The Match on Sky One. He has also appeared on Never Mind the Buzzcocks , Newsnight and has hosted the dance competition Bump 'n Grind on the youth cable channel Trouble and Footballers' Pads on Sky One.
In 2007, Harvey appeared on The Weakest Link Music Extravaganza Special, and was the fourth contestant voted off. In 2008, he participated in Channel 4 show Celebrity Come Dine with Me , along with Jonathan Ansell, Tamara Beckwith and Lynsey de Paul, finishing joint first with Ansell. In summer 2012 he was a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother 10 , Harvey made the final on 7 September 2012 Day 24 after never facing eviction during his entire stay within the Big Brother house. He was the first to leave the house on finale night finishing in 6th place.
Harvey supports Liverpool and has also been a non-league footballer. He has played for AFC Wimbledon, Aldershot Town and Lewes. He was signed by the Conference South side St Albans City in 2007 but left because of work commitments.
Harvey married singer Alesha Dixon in June 2005. In November 2006, the couple split following Harvey's affair with singer Javine Hylton. [5] He would later star with Hylton in a West End version of Daddy Cool . Hylton gave birth to their daughter, Angel Hylton Harvey, in February 2008. [6] They later split up amid allegations of his infidelity. In August 2015, Harvey married dancer Ghamzeh Mahdizadeh after dating for five years. Their daughter Persia Love Mahdizadeh was born on 1 January 2016. It was reported in February 2016 that Harvey had left Mahdizadeh for Elarica Johnson just two weeks after their wedding. [7] In April 2016, he was jailed for ten weeks for driving without a licence or insurance. [8]
Lamont Coleman, known professionally as Big L, was an American rapper. Emerging from Harlem in New York City in 1992, Big L became known among underground hip-hop fans for his freestyling ability. He was eventually signed to Columbia Records, where, in 1995, he released his debut album, Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous. On February 15, 1999, he was fatally shot nine times in a drive-by shooting in Harlem.

He frequently created vocal groups in which the publicised members merely lip-synced to songs sung by session members. Farian owned the record label MCI and several subsidiaries. Antonio Hardy, better known by his stage name Big Daddy Kane, is an American rapper, producer and actor who began his career in 1986 as a member of the Juice Crew. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential and skilled MCs in hip hop. Rolling Stone ranked his song "Ain't No Half-Steppin'" number 25 on its list of The 50 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs of All Time, calling him "a master wordsmith of rap's late-golden age and a huge influence on a generation of MCs".
Javine Dionne Hylton, often known simply as Javine, is an English singer and songwriter. She represented the UK at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv with "Touch My Fire". Hylton has also had a string of singles in the UK. Javine's cover version of "You've Got a Friend" was the theme music to Garfield: The Movie in 2004.
Lisa Maffia is a British singer-songwriter, musician, rapper, actress, fashion designer, model and presenter, who originally came to the public's attention as the main female member of So Solid Crew. Whilst in So Solid Crew, the singer notched up five top 20 hits, including a platinum-selling single "21 Seconds" and a platinum selling album They Don't Know. As a solo artist, she has released two top 10 singles and an award-winning album including the platinum selling single "All Over". Her most recent release to date, was 2017’s "Wah Gwarn". Maffia is mixed race, born to a half-Italian mother and a Jamaican father.
Ashley Anthony Walters, also known by his stage name Asher D, is a British actor and rapper. He first rose to fame as a member of the UK garage group So Solid Crew, which hit the top spot with their second single "21 Seconds".

The Juice Crew was an American hip hop collective made up largely of Queensbridge, New York–based artists in the mid-to-late 1980s. Founded by radio DJ Mr. Magic, and housed by Tyrone Williams' record label Cold Chillin' Records, the Juice Crew helped introduce New School artists MC Shan, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Roxanne Shante, Masta Ace, Tragedy, Craig G and Kool G Rap. The crew produced many answer records and engaged with numerous "beefs" – primarily with rival radio jock Kool DJ Red Alert and the South Bronx's Boogie Down Productions, as well as the "posse cut", "The Symphony".
Alesha Anjanette Dixon is an English singer, rapper, dancer, television personality, and author. She rose to fame in the early 2000s as a member of the garage, R&B and hip hop group Mis-Teeq, who had seven UK top 10 hits, two top 10 double platinum albums, and sold over 12 million records worldwide. After Mis-Teeq disbanded in 2005, Dixon pursued a career as a solo artist, signing a recording contract with Polydor Records. She released her debut solo album, Fired Up, in 2006, but due to poor record sales of its first two singles, "Lipstick" and "Knockdown", she was dropped from Polydor.
Golden age hip hop refers to mainstream hip hop music created from the mid or mid-late 1980s to the early or early-mid 1990s, particularly by artists and musicians originating from the New York metropolitan area. Popstars: The Rivals is a British television talent show series that was broadcast on ITV in late 2002. It was the second UK series of the international Popstars franchise. Unlike Popstars, which resulted in the formation of one winning group, Hear'Say, Popstars: The Rivals created two rival groups, Girls Aloud and One True Voice, who competed against each other for the Christmas number one spot on the UK Singles Chart. So Solid Crew are a British UK garage and hip hop collective originating from Battersea, London, which achieved wide success in the early 2000s. The group consisted of many members, the most notable being Asher D, Lisa Maffia, Harvey and Romeo. So Solid have been credited for being pioneers in the UK music scene. By turning UK garage from a dancey-genre to one that was darker and more MC-oriented, and gaining mainstream success, they inspired London youth to experiment with their own darker sounds, leading to what would become known as grime music.
"The Way We Are" is a song by English recording artist Alesha Dixon. It is the lead single from her fourth studio album, Do It for Love (2015). The song marks as a return to Dixon's UK garage-style earlier work with the girl group Mis-Teeq. The single was debuted on Britain's Got Talent at the fourth semi final; the live performance of the song subsequently gained over 7 million views on YouTube and the music video of Dixon's single has also amassed over 6 million views.
Osten S. Harvey Jr., better known by his stage name Easy Mo Bee, is an American hip hop and R&B record producer and DJ, known for his production work for artists such as Big Daddy Kane and Miles Davis, as well as his affiliation with Bad Boy Records in its early years, and his production involvement in The Notorious B.I.G.'s debut album, Ready to Die. He also produced two songs on 2Pac's album, Me Against the World.
