A. Holly Shissler (b. 1950) is an American historian of Turkey and the Ottoman Empire, who specializes in history of the early Turkish republic, modern Middle East history, nationalism, intellectual history. [1]
Shissler received a Bachelor of Arts from Vassar College. She then earned a Doctor of Philosophy in history from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). [2]
Teaching at University of Chicago since 1999, she is a director of Graduate Studies, Modern Fields at the Department of Middle Eastern Studies ath the same university. [2]
