A. T. M. Rokebul Haque is a Bangladeshi diplomat and the ambassador of Bangladesh to Italy. [1] He is the former deputy commissioner of Bangladesh to India. [2] He was the director general of South Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. [3] [4]
Haque did his bachelor's and master's in economics at the University of Dhaka. [5]
Haque joined the foreign service through the 20th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service in 2001. [6] He had served in the Bangladesh High Commission in Pakistan and the Bangladesh Embassy in Netherlands. [7]
Haque was the Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations. [8] In May 2017,he was appointed the Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India. [8] He was a Director to the Foreign Secretary's Office. [5]
Haque was appointed the director general of South Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2021. [9] [6] He led a team from the Ministry to Delhi to discuss the BBIN (Bangladesh,Bhutan,India,and Nepal) Motor Vehicles Agreement in March 2022. [9] [10]
In May 2024,Haque received Vinay Mohan Kwatra,foreign secretary of India,in Dhaka Airport. [11] In October 2024,Haque was appointed the ambassador of Bangladesh to Italy replacing Ambassador Md Monirul Islam. [5] [12]
