AG2R La Mondiale is a French multinational insurance firm headquartered in Paris that engages in global insurance, financial services, supplementary retirement fund and supplementary pension.
With €29 billion in contributions in (2017), AG2R La Mondiale is the biggest provider of supplementary pensions in France, managing one quarter of employees in the private sector, and the second biggest health insurer (excluding banking groups). The firm has 15 million individual customers and more than 500,000 business customers. [1] [2]
AG2R La Mondiale owns the AG2R La Mondiale cycling team and sponsors the Transat AG2R sailing race.
The company is a fusion of two entities. Those are the AG2R Group, a French-based interprofessional insurance and supplementary retirement fund group, created in 1951 and headquartered in Paris, and the La Mondiale Group, which is a French-based international group for supplementary pension and estate planning insurance, created in 1905 and headquartered in Lille. Lawrence Naesen is a Belgian cyclist, who last rode for UCI WorldTeam AG2R Citroën Team. He is the brother of racing cyclist Oliver Naesen, who is also a member of the Decathlon–AG2R La Mondiale team.
A strike began on 5 December 2019 to protest against broad changes to France's pension system proposed by President Emmanuel Macron. Reforming the pensions was one of President Macron's promises and there are three primary proposals of the pension reform plan. The first is to create a universal state retirement plan, which would replace the 42 individual retirement plans that exist in France. The second is a "points system", to give a pension in proportion to the contributions paid. The third is to "improve the pensions of the most disadvantaged." The result of the system would increase the retirement age of many jobs in France.

French automobile manufacturer Citroën continues as a title sponsor for the second consecutive season alongside longtime title sponsor and French insurance firm AG2R La Mondiale. They use BMC bicycles, Campagnolo drivetrain, Campagnolo wheels and Rosti clothing.
