Avery Jae Clementine (born 14 March 1996), known professionally as AJ Clementine, [1] is a Filipino-Australian model, actress, social media content creator, transgender activist, and writer. She is the first transgender person to model for the Australian clothing manufacturer Bonds, and made her runway debut in 2021 at Melbourne Fashion Week. In 2022, she authored the memoir Girl, Transcending: Becoming the woman I was born to be.

Early life and transition

Clementine grew up with her mother and stepfather and her brother, Dane, and half-siblings Kiana and Sean. [2] [3] She also has a half-sister, Kali, from her biological father's second marriage. [2] She is of Filipina descent through her mother, who immigrated to Australia from the Philippines. [4] [5]

Clementine, who was assigned male at birth, began socially transitioning into a woman at the age of sixteen. [6] [4] [7] She underwent gender affirmation surgery at the age of 22. [4] [8] [9]

Career

Clementine uses the stage name AJ Clementine on her social media platforms, including YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. [10] [11] [12] She is represented by the talent agency Precision MGMT. [10]

In 2020, she was a featured model as part of a partnership between Instagram and Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. [10] [13] Later that year, Clementine walked the runway at the Priceline Pharmacy for Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival and became the first transgender model for the Australian clothing manufacturer Bonds. [10] [14] [15] Also in 2020, Clementine became an ambassador for the Australian youth organisation Minus18 and released her own eyeshadow palette as part of a collaboration with Australis Cosmentics. In 2021, she had brand partnerships with MECCA Australia, L'Oréal, Pandora, and The Walt Disney Company. [10] In that year, she amassed 1.5 million followers on TikTok. [4] [16] She partnered with the French social media networking app Yubo for World Mental Health Day in 2021, the theme of which was Mental Health in an Unequal World. [17]

In 2023, Swedish social media influencer Mathilda Högberg moved in with Clementine.

Bel Priestley is an English actress and internet personality. She began her career on the social media platforms YouTube and TikTok, where she documented her gender transition after coming out as a transgender woman. By 2023, she amassed over one million followers on TikTok. Priestly joined the cast of the second season of the British coming-of-age romantic comedy drama television series Heartstopper as the character Naomi Russell. In 2023, she appeared on the covers of Brick Magazine and Attitude.

Mathilda Högberg is a Swedish social media influencer. She publicly came out as a transgender woman in 2020.

Eden Estrada, known professionally as Eden The Doll, is a Mexican-American model and social media influencer. She has over two million followers on TikTok and large followings on Instagram, YouTube, and OnlyFans. Estrada, who is a transgender woman, documented her gender transition on YouTube. She has been featured in Vogue and is a Playboy model.
