Politics of Bangladesh takes place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic republic,whereby the Prime Minister of Bangladesh is the head of government,and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament. The Constitution of Bangladesh was written in 1972 and has undergone seventeen amendments.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a major political party in Bangladesh. It was founded on 1 September 1978 by the late Bangladeshi president Ziaur Rahman,after the presidential election of 1978,with a view of uniting people with a nationalist ideology. Following Rahman's assassination in 1981,his widow,Khaleda Zia,took over leadership of the party and presided as chairperson until her imprisonment,in 2018. Since then,Tarique Rahman,the son of Rahman and Zia,has served as acting chairperson and has run the affairs of the party from London.

Now,he is an organizing secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Dulu was born in Natore Sadar Upazila of Natore District. He was a regular practitioner lawyer. Along with his legal career,he was also active in politics. In 1977,he joined the BNP's student organization Chhatra Dal.
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 30 December 2018 to elect 300 directly-elected members of the Jatiya Sangsad. The result was another landslide victory for the Awami League-led Grand Alliance led by Sheikh Hasina. The elections were marred by violence,and were widely considered by opposition politicians and the international community to be rigged.

Monirul Haque Sakku is a Bangladeshi politician and the first and immediate past mayor of the Cumilla City Corporation as a candidate of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. On 19 May 2022,he has been expelled permanently from BNP for breaching party discipline and again joined BNP in 2023.

Zahangir Alam is a former mayor of Gazipur City Corporation,an Awami League politician and businessman. Aligned with the Bangladesh Awami League,he was elected as the second mayor of the Gazipur City Corporation in July 2018. He is the managing director of Honourable Textile Composite Ltd and Z Alam Apparels. He was the general secretary of Gazipur metropolitan Awami League until he was expelled by Awami League central working committee on 19 November 2021. Jahangir was pardoned and got back his Awami League Membership on 1 January 2023. The LGRD Ministry suspended Alam on 25 November 2021 from the mayor post of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) on the allegations of illegal land grabbing,not compensating people after taking over land for development and working against the public interest.

Harunur Rashid is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and the incumbent Jatiya Sangsad member from the Chapai Nawabganj-3 constituency since January 2019.
