Politics of Bangladesh takes place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic republic,whereby the Prime Minister of Bangladesh is the head of government,and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament. The Constitution of Bangladesh was written in 1972,and has undergone seventeen amendments.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a major political party in Bangladesh. Founded on 1 September 1978 by the late Bangladeshi president Ziaur Rahman,with a view to uniting people with a nationalist ideology,BNP later became one of the two dominant parties in Bangladesh,along with its archrival Awami League. Initially a big tent centrist party,it later moved towards more right-wing politics.

He is noted for leading the terror squad Al-Badr during the Bangladesh Liberation War. On 29 October 2014,he was convicted of masterminding the Demra massacre by the International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh. Nizami was the Member of Parliament for the Pabna-1 constituency from 1991 to 1996 and again from 2001 to 2006. He also served as the Bangladeshi Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Industry.

General elections were held in Bangladesh on 5 January 2014,in accordance with the constitutional requirement that elections must take place within the 90-day period before the expiration of the term of the Jatiya Sangshad on 24 January 2014.
Ruhul Quddus Talukder "Dulu" is a Bangladeshi politician,lawyer,former deputy minister,and member of parliament representing the Natore-2 constituency. He is the organising secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Dulu was born in Natore Sadar Upazila,Natore District. He was a regular practitioner lawyer. Along with his legal career,he was also active in politics. In 1977,he joined the BNP's student organisation,Chhatra Dal.
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 30 December 2018 to elect 300 directly-elected members of the Jatiya Sangsad. The result was another landslide victory for the Awami League-led Grand Alliance led by Sheikh Hasina. The elections were marred by violence,and were widely considered by opposition politicians and the international community to be rigged.
Islami Andolan Bangladesh,abbreviated as IAB,is a major Deobandi Islamist political party in Bangladesh. It was founded in 1987 by Fazlul Karim as Islami Shashontantra Andolan,and took its current name in 2008.
Monirul Haque Sakku is a Bangladeshi politician and the first and former mayor of the Cumilla City Corporation as a candidate of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. On 19 May 2022,he was expelled from BNP for breaching party discipline and again joined BNP in 2023. He was pourashva mayor before 2012. He has a daughter,Sunzida Haque.
Abdullah Al Noman is a Bangladeshi politician who is a vice-chairman of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. He is a 3-term Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Chittagong-9 constituency. He served as a minister of fisheries and food in the second Khaleda Cabinet.
Amanullah Aman is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) politician and a former member of parliament. He is the joint secretary general of the BNP.
Gazipur-5 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad of Bangladesh since 2024 by Akhtaruzzaman of the Awami League.
Md. Zahangir Alam is a former mayor of Gazipur City Corporation,an Awami League politician and businessman. Aligned with the Bangladesh Awami League,he was elected as the second mayor of the Gazipur City Corporation in July 2018. He is the managing director of Honourable Textile Composite Ltd and Z Alam Apparels. He was the general secretary of Gazipur metropolitan Awami League until he was expelled by Awami League central working committee on 19 November 2021. Jahangir was pardoned and got back his Awami League membership on 1 January 2023. The LGRD Ministry suspended Alam on 25 November 2021 from the mayor post of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) on the allegations of illegal land grabbing,not compensating people after taking over land for development and working against the public interest.
Shamsul Alam Dudu is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and a former Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Joypurhat-1 constituency.
Khairul Kabir Khokon is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and a former member of parliament for Narsingdi-1,who currently serves as the party's assistant secretary. He had served as the president of Narsingdi District unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
Moyez Uddin was a Bangladesh Awami League politician and a Jatiya Sangsad member.
Harunur Rashid is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician who was the Jatiya Sangsad member for the Chapai Nawabganj-3 constituency from 2019 to 2022.
Nurul Islam Moni is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and a former member of parliament for Barguna-2.
Shahidul Islam is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and a two term member of parliament for Kushtia-2 from 1996 to 2006. He was known for filing cases and attacking journalists in Kushtia District.
Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and a former member of parliament representing the Rajbari-1 constituency.
