Didier Ignace Ratsiraka was a Malagasy politician and naval officer who was the third President of Madagascar from 1975 to 1993 and the fifth from 1997 to 2002. At the time of his death, he was the longest-serving President of Madagascar.

Jerry Marcoss is a singer and composer of kawitry, mangaliba and salegy music of Madagascar. Born in Antalaha in 1980, Jerry Marcoss is responsible for the national popularization of the kawitry genre of the northeast coast and has been termed the "King of Kawitry" by the Malagasy press. Since launching his musical career in 2001, Marcoss has released five albums and regularly gives performances across Madagascar, as well as in Europe and throughout the region. He is a high-energy performer and is distinguished by his positive lyrics, which are notably more universally comprehensible than many of his peers who sing in the northeastern coastal dialect of the Malagasy language. In 2006, he won the national award for Artiste Mafana de l'Annee. He has received several awards at annual musical competitions hosted by Radio France International, and has frequently collaborated with other popular Malagasy artists.
Andriamirado Aro Hasina Andrianarimanana, commonly known by the nickname Dax, is a Malagasy footballer who plays as a midfielder. He plays for the national team and Black Leopards in South Africa.

Gendarmerie Nationale Basketball Club, commonly known as GNBC, is a Malagasy basketball club based in Antsirabe, Vakinankaratra. The team plays in the Malagasy N1A and played in the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Established in 2012, the team has won its national championship three times.
The N1A is the premier basketball league for men' s teams in Madagascar. Currently, 12 teams play in the competition to determine the national champions of Madagascar.
Club Omnisport de La Police Nationale, commonly known as COSPN or COSPN Analamanga, is a Malagasy basketball club based in Antananarivo, Analamanga. The team plays in the N1A, the top tier level in Madagascar. COSPN is affiliated to the national police force and has won the league three times, in 2018, 2021 and 2022.
Elly Randriamampionona is a Malagasy basketball player for COSPN on loan from GNBC and for Madagascar. Standing at 1.88 m, he plays as shooting guard. Randriamampionona is a three-time champion of the N1A, the highest level league in Madagascar.
Association Sportive et Culturelle de Boeny, better known as ASCB Boeny, is a Malagasy basketball club based in Mahajanga (Boeny). The team plays in the Malagasy N1A, the national highest level league. The club joined the N1A in 2017, and won the national championship the same year.

The Antananarivo–Toamasina toll highway is a toll highway under construction in Madagascar that will connect the Malagasy capital of Antananarivo with the port city of Toamasina. Construction, overseen by Egyptian firm Samcrete, began in December 2022 with a projected cost of $1 billion over four years to build. It will be the first toll highway in Madagascar, and will reduce the distance required to travel from Antananarivo to Madagascar's largest port by 110 kilometers (68 mi) and is expected to reduce typical travel time by between five-and-a-half and seven-and-a-half hours. Upon the toll highway's completion, drivers in Madagascar will be permitted to drive the 260-kilometer (160 mi) road at a pace of 120 km/h (75 mph). Tolls for passenger cars will be 15,000 Malagasy ariary, while tolls for heavy trucks will be 20,000 ariary (US$5.22).
The Madagascar national badminton team represents Madagascar in international badminton team competitions. The team is controlled by the Madagascar Badminton Federation. The Malagasy mixed team made their debut in the 1998 African Badminton Championships and finished in third place.
