ASM Mozammel Haque is a Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami politician and a former member of parliament for Jessore-4 and Jhenaidah-3. [1] [2] [3]
Haque was elected a member of parliament from undivided Jessore-4 as an Islamic Democratic League candidate in 1979 Bangladeshi general election. [1] He was elected to parliament from Jhenaidah-3 as a Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate in 1986. [2] In 1987,he and 10 other MPs resigned from parliament following the party decision of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.[ citation needed ]
He was defeated in the fifth parliamentary elections of 1991 and the seventh parliamentary elections on 12 June 1996 as a candidate of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami from the Jhenaidah-3 constituency. [4]
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 1 October 2001. The 300 seats of the Jatiya Sangsad were contested by 1,935 candidates representing 54 parties and 484 independents. The elections were the second to be held under the caretaker government concept,introduced in 1996.
