A Sprinkle of History is an upcoming neo-noir black comedy crime film directed by Andrew Ahn and written by Anthony Bagarozzi. It stars Paul Giamatti, Toby Jones, Adam Scott and David Schwimmer. A release date has not been confirmed by Amazon Studios. [1] [2]
The plot centers on Sam Born, an ambitious immigrant confectioner, who unknowingly finds himself in the crosshairs of a ruthless turf war over the candy business in mid-century America when he creates sprinkles. [3] [4]
Charlie Bushnell and Sebastian Hansen are also set to star.
In December 2023, Amazon acquired Bagarozzi's spec script for the film with the studio courting Ahn to direct. In an interview with Collider in April 2024, Ahn confirmed that his next film following The Wedding Banquet would be A Sprinkle of History with Paul Giamatti, Toby Jones, Adam Scott and David Schwimmer set to star. [2] [5] Later that month, Ahn responded to a fan on his Instagram confirming that principal photography had begun in Brooklyn. [6] The working title was alleged to be Sweet Treats. [7] Wilson Bethel joined the cast. Filming wrapped in September. While not based on a true story, Ahn described the film as “a love letter” to the crime films he grew up with. [2]
