Snohomish County is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington. With a population of 827,957 as of the 2020 census,it is the third-most populous county in Washington,after nearby King and Pierce counties,and the 75th-most populous in the United States. The county seat and largest city is Everett. The county forms part of the Seattle metropolitan area,which also includes King and Pierce counties to the south.
Darrington is a town in Snohomish County,Washington,United States. It is located in a North Cascades mountain valley formed by the Sauk and North Fork Stillaguamish rivers. Darrington is connected to nearby areas by State Route 530,which runs along the two rivers towards the city of Arlington,located 30 miles (48 km) to the west,and Rockport. It had a population of 1,347 at the 2010 census.

Community Transit (CT) is the public transit authority of Snohomish County,Washington,United States,excluding the city of Everett,in the Seattle metropolitan area. It operates local bus,paratransit and vanpool service within Snohomish County,as well as commuter buses to Downtown Seattle and Northgate station. CT is publicly funded,financed through sales taxes,farebox revenue and subsidies,with an operating budget of $133.2 million. In 2021,the system had a ridership of 4,862,500,or about 20,300 per weekday as of the third quarter of 2022,placing it fourth among transit agencies in the Puget Sound region. The city of Everett,which serves as the county seat,is served by Everett Transit,a municipal transit system.
Washington's 8th congressional district is a district for the United States House of Representatives located in western Washington State. It includes the eastern portions of King,Pierce,and Snohomish counties,and crosses the Cascade mountains to include Chelan and Kittitas counties. The district's western part includes the exurban communities of Sammamish,Issaquah,and Maple Valley but does not include Seattle and Tacoma's more immediate suburbs. On its east side,the 8th's population centers include the rural communities Wenatchee,Leavenworth,and Ellensburg. It is currently represented in the U.S. House of Representatives by Democrat Kim Schrier,who was first elected to the seat in 2018.

The general election was instead between Joe Mallahan and Michael McGinn. McGinn beat Mallahan in the election with 51% of the vote share,becoming Seattle's next mayor.

Michael J. O'Brien is an American politician and former member of the Seattle City Council who represented District 6 in northwest Seattle. He was first elected in 2009 to a different,city-wide council seat. He was the leading proponent of the opt-out list for the Yellow Pages. He was the only opponent of the proposed deep bore tunnel under downtown Seattle on the city council. He was chair of the local chapter of the Sierra Club before running for office. In this capacity,he was one of the leading opponents of the 2007 Roads and Transit ballot measure.

Willis D. Tucker was an American politician and newspaper editor from Washington state. Tucker was the longtime editor of the Western Sun in southern Snohomish County from 1965 to 1980. Robert J. Drewel is an American retired politician from Washington state. Drewel served as the county executive of Snohomish County,Washington from 1992 to 2004 and as the executive director of the Puget Sound Regional Council from 2004 to 2014. Prior to his career in politics,he was president of Everett Community College and a labor and personnel relations consultant.
A special election was held on November 7,2017,to fill the vacant seat in the Washington State Senate representing the 45th district. The seat was left vacant after the death of incumbent Andy Hill in October 2016. Dino Rossi,a former candidate for U.S. Senate in 2010 and for governor in 2004 and 2008,was appointed to fill the seat until the election. He announced that he would not run for the seat. The election was then contested between Manka Dhingra of the Democratic Party and Jinyoung Lee Englund of the Republican Party,who advanced as the top two finishers in the August primary. Dhingra won the election by more than ten percent,giving the Democratic caucus a 25–24 majority for the 2018 session.

Two were due to Congressmen taking seats in the United States Senate,one resigned to take jobs in the private sector,one resigned to take a job in the public sector,and one resigned due to an impending federal indictment regarding misuse of campaign funds.
