Aars Municipality was a municipality (Danish, kommune ) in northern Denmark, in the county of North Jutland on the peninsula of Jutland. It was established as a result of the 1970 Danish Municipal Reform and ceased to exist following the Municipal reform of 2007. Today, the region is located within Vesthimmerland Municipality.
The municipality was established by the 1970 reforms which grouped parishes into municipalities. Aars municipality was made up of the parishes of: Blære, Gislum, Giver, Gundersted, Havbro, Skivum, Ulstrup, Vognsild, and Aars parish.[ citation needed ]
By 2005, the municipality covered an area of 223 km2 and had a total population of 13,284. Its final mayor was Knud V. Christensen, a member of the Conservative People's Party.[ citation needed ] On 1 January 2007 Aars municipality ceased to exist and was merged with the former Farsø, Løgstør, and Aalestrup municipalities to form the new Vesthimmerland Municipality, with an area of 815 km2 and a total population of 39,176 (2005). Until 1 January 2007 Galten municipality was a municipality in Aarhus County in the eastern part of the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 72.73 km2, and had a total population of 11,086 (2005). Its last mayor was Jens Grønlund, a member of the Venstre political party. Aars or Års, is a Danish town with a population of 8,474 in Himmerland, Denmark. Administratively, Aars is the municipal seat of Vesthimmerland Municipality and biggest town of Vesthimmerland Municipality, Region Nordjylland since 2007 and it was also the seat of the mayor in the now abolished Aars Municipality. The town was founded in the 14th century. It is one of the four principal towns of Vesthimmerland, the other ones being Farsø, Løgstør and Aalestrup. Aars is a former railway town. It is currently the 76 largest city in Denmark just behind Ribe but in front of Helsinge on Zealand, Sjælland. It is the 11th biggest town/city in Region Nordjylland in front of Skagen but just behind Sæby. The town has the nickname Cimbri's town.
Farsø is a town with a population of 3,349 in Region Nordjylland in Denmark in the Vesthimmerland Municipality. Farsø was the birthplace of Johannes Vilhelm Jensen, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1944. The village of Vognsild is located to the west of Farsø. Farsø is also called one of the head cities of Vesthimmerland Municipality along with Aars, Løgstør and Aalestrup.

Until January 1, 2007 Thyholm was a municipality in the former Ringkjøbing County on the island of Vendsyssel-Thy, a part of the Jutland peninsula in northwest Denmark. The municipality included the island of Jegindø, and it covered an area of 76 km2. It had a total population of 3,577 (2005). Its last mayor was Nis Mikkelsen, a member of the Venstre political party.

The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Nørre Snede.
Aalestrup Municipality was a municipality in Viborg County, Denmark which existed from 1970 until it ceased to exist as a result of the Municipal reform of 2007. Today the region is part of Vesthimmerland Municipality in the North Jutland Region.
Jelling municipality was, from 1970 until 1 January 2007, a municipality in Vejle County on the Jutland peninsula in south-west Denmark. In 2007 it merged into the newly formed Vejle municipality.
Vesthimmerland Municipality or Vesthimmerlands Municipality is a municipality in the North Jutland Region in Denmark. It covers an area of 768,08 km² (2013) and has a total population of 36,431 (2023). The Municipality borders Jammerbugt Municipality to the south and to the east it borders Rebild and Aalborg Municipality and to the south it borders Viborg Municipality and to the south-east it borders Mariagerfjord Municipality.
Knud Vældgaard Kristensen is is a Danish mason and politician, and he was son of Åge Kristensen and Inge Kristensen. He a member of Danish party Det Konservative Folkeparti. He is currently retired from politics.
