Abaddon is a Polish punk rock band.

History

Early history

The band got together in Bydgoszcz in 1982 under the name "Partyzantka Miejska" ("Urban Guerilla"), but soon decided on the name "Abaddon". [1] Their first significant performance occurred at the Jarocin Festival in 1983. Soon after that, two days before a show in Poznań, the lead singer Wolf quit the group. Kiki (Waldek Jedyczowski) then became the lead singer. [2]

Abaddon again performed at the Jarocin Festival in 1984 and 1985. One of their songs, (Kto), which was recorded at the 1985 Festival, was featured on the Fala compilation LP. They soon met a journalist from Yugoslavia, Peter Barbaric, who arranged a tour for them that was profitable enough to pay for a recording session at the Borutcine Studio in Ljubliana. That session, done in May 1985, produced the album Wet Za Wet . [2]

In 1987, conflicts emerged among the band members as some of them wanted to pursue heavier hardcore while others preferred a more melodic punk. That strife eventually led to Abaddon's split. [2] Most of the members abandoned the music scene except for Tomek Dorn (Perelka). He went on playing for a local cold wave band called Variété.

Reunion

In 2001, two of the original members, Tomek Dorn and Kiki, reformed the band with two new musicians, Wladek Refling (bass) and Zwierzak (guitar). [2] Wet Za Wet was also re-issued on CD by Pop Noise Records in 2001 with four bonus tracks—three of them live versions.

Dezerter, founded as SS-20 in May 1981 in Warsaw, is one of the most popular punk bands from Poland. The band was founded by three students of Warsaw's vocational high school (technikum) - Robert "Robal" Matera (guitar), Krzysztof Grabowski (drums), and Dariusz "Stepa" Stepnowski (bass). All three were born in 1963, and went to the same class. From the beginning Grabowski wrote lyrics, and Matera music. The three classmates originally planned to name their band Sektor A, but after some time changed their minds and named it SS-20. Soon afterwards, they were joined by another student of the same school, Dariusz "Skandal" Hajn, who, as Grabowski later stated, "looked like a real punkrocker". The band started regular rehearsals in the summer of 1981. With fast guitar riffs and intelligent lyrics written by Grabowski, Dezerter's concerts drew thousands of fans and its LPs were very popular, especially in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Treat is a Swedish hard rock band from Stockholm. Formed in 1981 by singer Robert Ernlund and guitarist Anders "Gary" Wikström, the band had national and as well as international success with songs like "Get You on the Run", "World of Promises", "Party All Over" and "Ready for the Taking" in the second half of the 1980s.

Tilt is a Polish rock band who have been playing together on and off since 1979. They are regarded as one of the first punk bands in the nation, but as the founder mentioned in an interview, they were a post punk band from the beginning. Tilt was founded in Warsaw in 1979 by Tomasz Lipinski and it has continued to exist to the present day, with several breaks in between. In its first years, Tilt performed songs in English, later switching to Polish. Currently, they perform and record as Tomek Lipinski & Tilt, with Lipinski on guitar and vocals, Wojciech Konikiewicz on keyboards, Karol Ludew on drums, Piotr Leniewicz on bass, and Alek Korecki on saxophone.
