Abbie Hunnisett (born 28 October 1995) is a British parasport athlete who competes in the F32 club. [1] In 2015 Hunnisett secured a bronze medal in the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha while representing Great Britain.
Hunnisett was born in England in 1995 and grew up in East Grinstead, Sussex. [2] Hunnisett, who has cerebral palsy, was educated at Treloar School before boarding at Valence School. [3]
Hunnisett was first introduced to the club throw when it was suggested to her by teachers. [3] She kept up the sport for pleasure and fitness but after training over her summer holidays the improvements in her throws led her to seek out a sports club, and she was selected at an athletics development day. [3] She joined Kingston Athletics Club and Polytechnic Harriers. [4]
Hunnisett's first forays into competitive sports were at the Cerebral Palsy Sport Grand Prix in 2010 and 2011, where she threw sub tem metre distances. [4] She was later classified as a F32 disability athlete, which meant she could officially compete at sporting meets. In 2012 Hunnissett entered the Lee Valley Indoor Disability Championships, winning the club throw with a distance of 14.59m. [4] The following year she entered her first IPC Grand Prix, travelling to Germany to compete in Berlin. [4] There she threw 12.17m to finish in third place. A week later she won first place at the England Athletics Senior Disability Championships with a distance of 16.28m. [4] Her personal best in 2013 of 17.79m, achieved at the Kingston Open, placed her sixth in the world. [4] [5]
In 2014 Hunnisett joined the Weir Archer Academy and was selected for the Great Britain team to compete in her first major international competition, the 2014 IPC Athletics European Championships held in Swansea. Initially the club throw was to be contested as two events between the F32 and F51 athletes, but the competition was combined and the results decided by points. [5] This left Hunnisett fourth just outside the medals with a throw of 18.52m. [6]
The following year Hunnisett entered three IPC Grand Prix events in the buildup to the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha. Her first Grand Prix saw her travel to Nottwil in Switzerland where she threw a personal best of 19.24 to take first place. [4] Hunnisett followed this with a second place at the Berlin Grand Prix. [4] Her third Grand Prix saw Hunnisett compete at the Anniversary Games in London where she threw over twenty metres in a competitive competition for the first time with a result of 21.01m. [4] At the World Championships, Hunnisett entered the F32 club throw. She fouled her first two throws, but managed a distance of 21.09 on her final attempt of the first round. She was unable to better this result in the second round, but the throw was good enough to see her secure her first major international podium finish with a bronze medal. [7]
Louise Ellery is an Australian Paralympic track and field athlete, Commonwealth Games gold medalist and former world record holder in F32 Shot put for elite athletes with a disability. At the 2016 Rio Paralympics, she won a bronze medal.
Brydee Moore is an Australian athlete with cerebral palsy that competes in the shot put, discus and javelin. She won a silver medal at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships. She represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics in athletics.
Hollie Beth Arnold, is a British parasport athlete competing in category F46 javelin. Although born in Grimsby, she now lives and trains in Loughborough. Arnold competed without achieving a podium finish at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing and the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, but took the gold medal in the F46 javelin in the 2016 Summer Paralympics at Rio. In 2018 she became the second Paralympian, after Sophie Hahn to hold Paralympic, World, European and Commonwealth gold medals in the same event.
Beverley Jones is a Paralympian from Wales competing in category F37 throwing events. Jones won a bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games as an EAD in the 100m sprint. Jones has qualified for four Summer Paralympics from 2000 to 2012 finishing fourth twice, in the sprint in 2000 at Sydney and in the shot put at Athens in 2004.
Kieran Tscherniawsky is a Paralympian athlete from England competing mainly in category F33 discus. In 2011, he became the World Junior Champion in the discus and qualified for the Great Britain team at the 2012 Summer Paralympics. He was a repeat member of the team at the 2016 Summer Paralympics.
Gemma Louise Prescott is a British Paralympian track and field athlete competing in F32 throwing events. Prescott represented England in the 2010 Commonwealth Games, taking the bronze medal in the SP shot put. She has represented the Great Britain team twice in the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing and the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London.
Maroua Brahmi is a Paralympic athlete from Tunisia competing mainly in category F32 throwing events. She is the 2016 Paralympic Champion in club throw category F32 and the F32 shot put.
Jayden Sawyer is an Australian para athlete who competes mainly in the F38 category in throwing events. He won has won gold and bronze medals at the World Para Athletics Championships.
Maria Lyle is a parasport athlete from Scotland competing mainly in T35 sprint events. At the age of 14 she set a world record in the 200m sprint, a record she has broken on several occasions. In 2014, she qualified for the IPC Athletics World Championships in Swansea and won gold in both the 100m and 200m T35.
Isis Holt is a Paralympic athlete from Australia competing in T35 sprint events. She is affected by the condition cerebral palsy. Holt won gold medals in the 100 m and 200 m at the 2015 and 2017 World Para Athletics Championships. At the 2016 Rio Paralympics, she won two silver medals and a bronze medal.
Joanna Shuni Butterfield, is a British parasport athlete who competes in the F51 club and discus throw. In 2014 Butterfield set a European record in the club while winning the event at the 2014 IPC Athletics European Championships. The following year she added the World title at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in Qatar, securing a place at the 2016 Paralympic Games.
Georgina Hermitage, is a British parasport athlete competing in T37 sprint events. In 2015, she qualified for the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha, selected for the T37 100m and 200m. She took the gold in the 400m sprint, setting a new world record.
Claire Keefer is a short stature athlete from Australia. She represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics in athletics where she won a bronze medal. She has won a silver and bronze medal at the World Para Athletics Championships.

She qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, following her second consecutive appearance in the World Para Athletics Championship. She has also competed and won medals in several IPC Grand Prix held at Berlin in 2016, Dubai in 2017 and Tunisia in 2018.
