Rear Admiral Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury (N), BSP, ndc, psc, BN is a two-star admiral in Bangladesh Navy who is currently serving as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Personnel). Previously, he has served as Chairman of Payra Port Authority twice. Before that he served as Commander, Chattogram Naval Area. Prior to that, he was Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Logistics). He also served as Director of Submarines, Naval Headquarters, Dhaka. [1]
Chowdhury joined Bangladesh Navy in 1985 and was commissioned in Executive Branch. He served as Bhasanchar project director, The much-talked-about relocation of Rohingya refugees to Bhasanchar Island on the southern tip of Noakhali. [2] During his time, almost 20 thousand Rohingya has been shifted. [3] He oversaw the process of shifting Rohingya people from Kutupalong refugee camp to Island of Noakhali. [4] Before that, Chowdhury was Director of Naval Administrative Authority Dhaka. [5] Admiral Mamun became 1st in merit position in 64th Senior Staff Course at Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC).
Hatiya Island is an island in the northern Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh, at the mouth of the Meghna river. The island falls under Hatiya Upazila of Noakhali District. The island has an area of 480 km2. Other major offshore islands of this region are Bhola Island and Manpura Island. All of these islands are densely populated. It is frequently subject to cyclones and destructive ocean waves.

The Bangladesh–Myanmar relations refer to the bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and Myanmar. The relationship between these two neighbouring countries is generally frosty under the Burmese military junta, and as a result of the presence of over 270,000 Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. The civil society and political class of Bangladesh often voiced solidarity for Myanmar's pro-democracy struggle. However, relations between the two nations soured as a result of Rohingya genocide which resulted in the influx of over 1.1 million Rohingya refugees from Rakhine State in Myanmar to Bangladesh. Despite being neighbouring countries, very little trade exists among these countries.
Mahbub Ali Khan was a Bangladesh Navy rear admiral and the chief of naval staff from 1979 until his death in 1984. He is known for his heroic actions for his country. Under him, the South Talpatti sandbar and other emerging islands in the Bay of Bengal, over which both India and Bangladesh claimed sovereignty, remained under the authority of Bangladesh. He is also known for reducing piracy in the Bay of Bengal and was responsible for maintaining the security of the Bay and the Sundarbans.

Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh mostly refer to forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals from Myanmar who are living in Bangladesh. The Rohingya people have experienced ethnic and religious persecution in Myanmar for decades. Hundreds of thousands have fled to other countries in Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Philippines. The majority have escaped to Bangladesh, where there are two official, registered refugee camps. Recently violence in Myanmar has escalated, so the number of refugees in Bangladesh has increased rapidly. According to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), more than 723,000 Rohingya have fled to Bangladesh since 25 August 2017.
Kutupalong refugee camp is the world's largest refugee camp. It is located in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, and is inhabited mostly by Rohingya refugees who fled from ethnic and religious persecution in neighboring Myanmar. It is one of two government-run refugee camps in Cox's Bazar, the other being the Nayapara refugee camp.
