Abdullahi Mohamed Nur

Abdullahi Mohamed Nur is a Somali politician who is a Member of the House of the People, the lower house of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, representing Hirshabelle. [1] He is a former State Minister for Finance. [2] [3]

He is considered to be one of the most corrupted Somali politicians at present. Hence, he is nicknamed as “the 30 year old with $30 million”. This is in reference to the large amount of aid money as well as the central bank finances stolen during pres Hassan Sheikh tenure.

Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed was a Somali politician and former Colonel in the Somali National Army. He was one of the founders of the Somali Salvation Democratic Front, as well as the Puntland State of Somalia, where he served as the autonomous region's first President. In 2004, Ahmed also helped establish the Transitional Federal Government, which he led as President of Somalia from 2004 until 2008.

Darod Somali clan family

The Darod is a Somali clan. The forefather of this clan was Sheikh Abdirahman bin Isma'il al-Jabarti, more commonly known as Darood. In Somaliland the clan settle the eastern region of Sool while the clan has a presence in Sanaag and Togdheer regions. In Somalia members of the clan settle in the federal member states of Jubbaland and Puntland while the clan has an ancillary presence in pockets of the states of Koonfur-Galbeed and Galmudug. In Ethiopia the clan settles in the Somali State region, whilst in Kenya they settle in the North Eastern Province.

The transitional federal government (TFG) was the government of Somalia between 2004 and 2012. Established 2004 in Djibouti through various international conferences, it was an attempt to restore national institutions to the country after the 1991 collapse of the Siad Barre government and the ensuing Somali Civil War.

The Hawadle or Xawaadle are a Somali clan who traces its descent from Mayle, one of the sons of Samaale clan. The Hawadle, as well as many other Somali clans like the Hawiye and Dir, trace themselves from Samaale.

Council of Ministers of Somalia

The Council of Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia consists of Ministers appointed by the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister may dismiss members of the council, and new appointees must again be approved by the Parliament. The Council meets weekly on Thursdays in Mogadishu. There may be additional meetings if circumstances require it. The Prime Minister chairs the meetings.

Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed President of Somalia from 2017 to 2021

Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, also known as Farmaajo, is a Somali politician who is the founder and chairman of the Tayo party. He was Prime Minister of Somalia for six months, from November 2010 until June 2011. He served a term as President of Somalia from 16 February 2017, and has been acting President since 8 February 2021. Since the expiration of his original term, the federal member states of Puntland and Jubaland no longer recognise Mohamed as the President of Somalia, but they eventually came to agreement on holding elections.

Abdiweli Gaas

Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas, also known as Abdiweli Gaas, is a Somali American economist and politician. He served as the Prime Minister of Somalia from June 2011 to October 2012, and briefly afterwards as an MP in the newly formed Federal Parliament. During his time as Premier, Ali is credited with having devised the formal "Roadmap for the End of Transition", a political process that provided clear benchmarks leading toward the establishment of permanent democratic institutions in the country. On 8 January 2014, he was elected the 5th President of Puntland.

Ministry of Finance (Somalia)

The Ministry of Finance, abbreviated MOF, is a ministry of the Government of Somalia that is charged with the responsibility for government expenditure and revenue raising. The ministry's role is to develop economic policy and prepare the federal budget. The Ministry of Finance also oversees financial legislation and regulation. Each year in October, the Minister of Finance presents the Somali federal budget to the Parliament.

Bashir Mohamed Jama "Gobe" is a politician and former Somali Armed Forces officer. He is currently the Director-General of the Somali Agency for Construction and Development. He served twice as the Chief of the Somali Custodial Corps and also served as the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency from 2013 to 2014. He received the highest rank of Lieutenant General and served as the only Lieutenant General since the former Prime Minister Mohamed Ali Samatar retired in 1991.

The Kampala Accord was an agreement made in Kampala, Uganda in line with the Transitional Federal Charter of the Somali Republic to bring and end to the transitional phase of the Transitional Federal Government on 20 August 2011. It was signed on 9 June 2011 by HE Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, President of the Transitional Federal Government, Hon Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden, Speaker of the Transitional Federal Parliament, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Replublic of Uganda and Dr Augustine Mahiga, Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations.
