Abhishek Iyengar is an Indian playwright and theatre director. He is a co-founder of Bangalore-based theatre company WeMove Theatre. He writes play in Kannada and English. [1] [2]
Iyengar wrote E=MC2, a thriller play which revolves around the life of a software engineer. The protagonist of the play, a person with schizophrenia, is hired to search the missing Software Engineer and through this quest he explores many other hidden truths. [1] His another play entitled Magadi Days is a political satire. In this play, a local government manipulates the laws because of which the common man suffers. [3] His play Namma Metro (2012) is a symbolic representation of Bangalore. It deals with issues of how a small-time city suddenly gets exposed to globalization and the repercussions occurs due to the same. [4] [5] In 2013, he wrote and directed P.S. I Don't Love You. [6] His play Cocktail is a collection of eight short stories based on the real-life stories of people in India. Each story depicts a different emotion and expression thus adding eight different variations. The play is devised using the 'black-box' concept. [7] [8] [9] His play Anaavarana (The Unveiling) revolves around the subject of reunion of friends after their graduation. Miffed with their own secrets, the six friends try to recollect their graduation days and what percolates out is a series of emotions which were always hidden from each other. [10] [11]
In 2006, he co-founded the WeMove Theatre with Rangraj Bhattacharya. [12] In 2017, he was appointed a WorldTheatre Ambassador as a representative of India for world theatre map, as a part of HowlRound, a project by Emerson College, Boston. [13]
Iyengar received first prize at Adjust Madkobedi Theatre Festival for his play Mooru Humpugalu. [14] Iyengar was awarded the Kannada Sahitya Parishat Award by Kannada Sahitya Parishat for his plays Magadi Days and By2coffee. [15]
Kempe Gowda I locally venerated as Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda, or commonly known as Kempe Gowda, was a governor under the Vijayanagara Empire in early-modern India. He is famous for the development of Bangalore Town in the 16th century. He erected many kannada inscriptions in the regions. He also authored Ganga-gauri-vilasa, a yakshagana (verse-play) in Telugu. He is commemorated with various statues and memorials and many places are named after him in Bangalore.

A popular cultural icon of Karnataka, Nag is often referred to as Karate King. He directed the teleserial Malgudi Days, based on novelist R. K. Narayan's short stories and acted in some episodes as well. He won two National Film Awards, four Karnataka State Film Awards and two Filmfare Award South.
Namma Metro, also known as Bengaluru Metro, is a rapid transit system serving the city of Bengaluru, the capital city of the state of Karnataka, India. It is the second-longest operational metro network in India with an operational length of 73.75 kilometers, just behind Delhi Metro. Upon its inauguration in 2011, it became the first underground metro system in South India. Namma Metro has a mix of underground, at grade, and elevated stations. Out of the 66 operational metro stations of Namma Metro as of October 2023, there are 57 elevated stations, eight underground stations and one at-grade station. The system runs on standard-gauge tracks.

Basavanagudi is a residential and commercial locality in the Indian city of Bangalore. Basavanagudi is one of the oldest localities of Bangalore evidenced by the fact that it is home to four inscriptions, three Kannada and one Tamil and also one of the poshest areas of Bangalore. It is located in South Bangalore, along the borders of Jayanagar and Lalbagh Botanical Gardens. The name "Basavanagudi" refers to the Bull Temple, which contains a monolithic statue of the Nandi Bull. The word Basava in Kannada means bull, and gudi means temple. The main commercial street in Basavanagudi is DVG Road, which is home to numerous retail businesses - several of them dating back to the 1920s and 1930s. Towards the middle of DVG Road is Gandhi Bazaar, known for its market which sells fresh flowers, fruits, and vegetables. The neighbourhood includes several historic restaurants, notably Vidyarthi Bhavan, a vegetarian restaurant which opened in 1943.

The Purple Line is a part of the Namma Metro rail system for the city of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. As of 2023, the line is 43.49 km (27.02 mi) long and spans 37 stations from Challaghatta in the southwest to Whitefield (Kadugodi) to the east. The Purple Line is mostly elevated, with 31 elevated stations, 5 underground stations and 1 at-grade station. The Line passes through many prime activity centers of the city including Whitefield, Krishnarajapura, MG Road, Vidhana Soudha and Majestic station, which is an interchange station between Purple and Green Lines. Phase I of the Purple Line was the first underground metro section in South India.

He is the father of film actress Aasha Rani who acted in Rathasapthami with Shivrajkumar and the father-in-law of popular Kannada and Tamil actor Arjun Sarja.
Manish Gandhi is an Indian theatre director and stage, film and TV actor. In 2006, he worked with the Government of Chandigarh to create a new theatre education programme for children in government schools. In 2009, he was awarded a scholarship from the Inlaks Shivdasani, Foundation after which he completed a stint at FTII, Pune.

Magadi Road is an elevated metro station on the East-West corridor of the Purple Line of Namma Metro serving the Magadi Road in Bangalore, India. The station was constructed by Punj Lloyd and was opened to the public on 16 November 2015.
Chandrashekar Patil, popularly known as Champa, was an Indian poet, playwright and public intellectual writing in Kannada. Patil was a recipient of the Karnataka Sahitya Akademi Award for Poetry in 1989 and the Karnataka state government's Pampa Award in 2009. Patil had served as the president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, a Kannada language literary organization.

Ondu Motteya Kathe is a 2017 Kannada-language romantic comedy film written and directed by debutant Raj B. Shetty who also appears in the lead role, along with Usha Bhandary, Shailashree, Prakash Tuminadu, Amrutha Naik, Shreya Anchan, Vj Vineeth, Rahul Amin, Deepak Rai Panaje and Ramdas playing supporting roles. The movie was released on 7 July 2017 to positive reviews. The Hindu called it the "Kannada film of the year". The film won the Filmfare Award for Best Film – Kannada. The budget of the film was estimated to be at 30 lakhs INR and the movie was a commercial success by collecting 2.5 crores.

Pratibha Nandakumar is an Indian poet, journalist, feminist, columnist and activist who works in Kannada and English. She is considered as one of the pioneers of modern woman's poetry in Kannada literature. For her work Kavadeyaata, Pratibha was awarded the Karnataka Sahitya Akademi Award for Poetry in 1998.
