The Abia State Ministry of Agriculture is a branch of the Abia State Government. It is the apex body for the formulation and administration of the rules and regulations and laws relating to agriculture in Abia State. [1]

Abia State has a multi-party political system. The politics of Abia State is governed within the framework of a presidential republic with the Governor of Abia State serving jointly as the head-of-state and head of government. The Governor exercises the executive power vested on him or her directly, although the constitution also authorizes the Deputy Governor and Commissioners to carry out such exercises. Legislative power rests on the shoulders of a 24-member unicameral House of Assembly while the judicial power is exercised directly by the Judiciary of Abia State. Power in Abia State is divided into three branches: executive, legislative and judiciary, similarly to the United States.

Sir, Ude Oko Chukwu (FCA) (FCA) is a Nigerian accountant and politician who currently serves as the Deputy Governor of Abia State after he was elected into office in 2015 under the platform of the People's Democratic Party. Prior to his swearing-in as Deputy Governor, he had served as the Speaker of the 5th Abia State House of Assembly.

The Abia State Chief of Staff is the most senior political appointee and an executive branch of the Abia State Government. Appointed by the Governor of Abia State, the Chief of Staff acts as a senior aide to the Governor with the responsibility of assisting and advising the Governor in the administering and managing of the daily affairs of the government. The current Chief of Staff is Chijioke Nwakodo after he was appointed on 3 June 2015 by Okezie Ikpeazu.

The Chief Judge of Abia State is the title or office appointed to the head of the judiciary of the Abia State Government. The Chief Judge is appointed by the Governor of Abia State to preside over the state's High Court and also to oversee and supervise its unified court system. The incumbent Chief Judge is Justice Theresa Uzokwe, who was appointed into the position by Theodore Orji on 22 December 2014.

The Executive Council of Abia State (informally and more commonly, the Cabinet of Abia State) is the highest formal governmental body that plays important roles in the Government of Abia State headed by the Governor of Abia State. It consists of the deputy governor, Secretary to the State Government, chief of staff, commissioners who preside over ministerial departments, and the governor's special aides. Appointment into these positions except the position of deputy governor is exercised by the governor on approval and confirmation by the Abia State House of Assembly.

The INEC Abia State Office is a branch of the Independent National Electoral Commission that coordinates, supervises and organizes political elections in Abia State. On August 2, 2015, some parts of the office which is headquartered at Obingwa local government was burnt down by political thugs during the 2015 Nigerian general election. The INEC Abia State Office is headed by a Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), currently Sylvester Ezeani.
