Abida Sultana is a Bangladeshi adhunik singer. [2]

Early life and career

Sultana was born to Abdus Salam and Muslima Begum. [2] She completed her bachelor's in political science. [3] She got her musical breakthrough in 1974. [3] [4] She performed as a playback singer for the films Abar Tora Manush Ho (1973), Alo Tumi Aleya and Yea Kore Biye. She was one of the playback singers of the film Simana Periye (1977), composed by Bhupen Hazarika. [5]

Personal life

Sultana is married to the musician Rafiqul Alam since 14 April 1980. [2] [8] Their one son, Farshid Alam, is the main vocalist of the band Bohemian. [2] [9] She has four sisters, Rebeka Sultana, [10] Rehena Sultana, Chitra Sultana and Salma Sultana, and two brothers, Shawkat Ali Emon and Mohammad Ali Shumon. [5] [11] Salma (d. 2016) was a singer. Timir Nandy is a Bangladeshi singer who mainly sings romantic songs and patriotic songs. He has lent his voice to popular songs such as "Ogo Chand Kothay Peyechho Eto Alo", " Tomare Legechhe Eto Je Bhalo", "Monobeena Te Roye Roye", " Jhor Jhor Baridhara Sondhay", "Chander Pane Cheye Cheye", " Badhon Khule Dilam". He completed 50 years of his career in 2019 and dropped an album titled Meghla Du Chokh for celebrating silver jubilee of his career.
