Abraham Epiphaniosas of 2020 is the metropolitan of the Sultan Bathery Diocese of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. He was also the assistant metropolitan of Bangalore Diocese. He was born on 17 September 1960 in Kozhenchery. He is a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Malaysia.

Ephiphanios had his education in Pathanamthitta Catholicate College, the Orthodox Theological Seminary and took M.Th. degree from Serampore University. He was ordained as deacon in 1986 and priest in 1987 respectively; on 31 March 2002 he became Ramban. He was in the ashrams in Parumala and Madras from 1990 to 1996. He also served as Vicar of St. Thomas Cathedral from 1996 to 2002.

Thereafter he served as the Manager of Bishop's House, Madras in 2003. From 2004 to 2006 he was the Manager at Parumala Seminary and from 2007 he served as the Manager of Devalokam Catholicate Aramana. [1] [2]

Malankara Metropolitan is an ecclesiastical title given to the head of the Malankara Syrian Church, previously by the Government of Travancore and Cochin in South India. This title was awarded by a proclamation from the King of Travancore and the King of Cochin. The Prime jurisdiction regarding the temporal, ecclesiastical and spiritual administration of the Malankara Church is vested in the Malankara Metropolitan. The Malankara Metropolitan is the legal custodian of the Kottayam Old Seminary, interest of vattipanam and Other Common Community properties of Malankara Church.

Saint Geevarghese Mor Gregorios, popularly known as Parumala Thirumeni, was a Metropolitan of the Malankara Church. Parumala Thirumeni became the first person of Indian origin to be canonised as saint. In 1947, the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church declared Mar Gregorios as a saint, making him the first canonized Christian saint from India. In November 1987, the Syriac Orthodox Church canonized him as a saint.
