Marcel Desailly is a French former professional footballer, widely considered to be among the greatest centre-backs and defensive midfielders of all-time. During a successful career at club level, lasting from 1986 to 2006, Desailly won several titles, including UEFA Champions League medals with both Marseille and AC Milan, and also played for Nantes and Chelsea, among other teams. At international level, he collected 116 caps between 1993 and 2004, scoring three goals, and was a member of the France international squads that won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000.

David Efford Chabala, popularly known as Efford Chabala was Zambia's first choice goalkeeper from 1983 until his death in a plane crash off the Gabonese coast in 1993 and is one of Zambia's most capped players, with 108 full international appearances. Chabala was instrumental in Zambia's first ever East and Central African Championship success when he saved three penalties in Zambia's 3–0 shoot-out victory over Malawi in the 1984 final in Uganda after a goalless draw at full-time. He was named Zambia's Sportsman of the Year in 1985.

Mpangi Merikani is a Congolese former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He notably played abroad in South Africa. He represented the Zaire national national team at international level.
Edward Ansah is a Ghanaian footballer. He played in 15 matches for the Ghana national football team from 1992 to 2003. He was also named in Ghana's squad for the 1992 African Cup of Nations tournament.
