The Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM) is an international medical review and accreditation agency service for medical schools. [1]

The National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (NCFMEA), part of the United States Department of Education, has listed ACCM as "found to use standards to accredit their medical schools that are comparable to the standards used to accredit medical schools in the United States." [1]

In 2017 ACCM was granted a 10-year recognition by the World Federation on Medical Education (WFME) [2]

The ACCM works on behalf of the governments in relation to medical school standards in the following Caribbean countries and one middle Eastern country and according to its site there is only one ACCM accredited medical school in each of the countries:. [3]

As of 2020, various schools (Aureus University School of Medicine in Aruba, Arabian Gulf University (AGU) in Bahrain and Jordan University of Science & Technology in Jordan) were pending onsite full accreditation inspection which would be schedule after travel restrictions associated with the COVID-19 global pandemic were removed. St. Matthew's University (SMU) is a private for-profit offshore medical school located in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands in the Caribbean. SMU has a School of Medicine and a School of Veterinary Medicine, which confer M.D. and D.V.M. degrees, respectively. St. Matthew's University is owned by R3 Education, Inc.

Medical University of the Americas – Nevis

Medical University of the Americas (MUA) is a private for-profit offshore medical school in Charlestown, Nevis. It is owned by R3 Education, Inc. which also owns St. Matthew's University and the Saba University School of Medicine MUA confers upon its graduates the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.

American University of the Caribbean

The American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) is a private medical school. Its main basic science campus is located in Sint Maarten, and separate administrative offices are located in Iselin, New Jersey, and Miramar, Florida, in the United States. AUC is owned by Adtalem Global Education.

University of Medicine and Health Sciences

The University of Medicine and Health Sciences is a private, for-profit medical school located in Basseterre, Saint Kitts in the Caribbean. UMHS confers upon its graduates the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. The university also has a 5th semester campus in Portland, Maine and an administrative office in New York, New York.

Ross University School of Medicine Caribbean medical school in Barbados

Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM) is a private medical school. Its main campus is located in Barbados, and separate administrative offices are located in Iselin, New Jersey, and Miramar, Florida, in the United States. Prior to 2019, the university's main campus was in Portsmouth, Dominica but moved to its present location in Barbados in January 2019. RUSM is owned by Adtalem Global Education Inc.

The Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP) is an accrediting body for the education programmes and schools of medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, nursing and other health professions in the 15 member nations of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). CAAM-HP was established in 2003 and is headquartered in Kingston, Jamaica.

St. Martinus University Faculty of Medicine (SMUFOM) is a private medical school located in Willemstad, Curaçao, which started operating in 2003.

An offshore medical school is a medical school that caters "primarily to foreign students, wishing to practice medicine in the US and Canada" according to the World Bank, compared to local schools that focus on their home nation. Such schools are chiefly located in the Caribbean basin, but also includes schools in other locations, such as Mexico (Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine]] and Australia, which run programs that target American students.

Trinity Medical Sciences University

Trinity Medical Sciences University (TMSU) is an offshore private medical school with its Basic Science part of the MD program, Pre-medical program and Masters program located in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the Caribbean and Clinical Science part of the MD program in Baltimore in the United States. It opened in 2008, as a fully accredited medical facility to respond to a shortage of physicians in the United States and Canada. It has its administrative headquarters in Roswell, Georgia and it partners with Milton Cato Memorial Hospital located in Kingstown and Northwest Hospital in Baltimore.

All Saints University School of Medicine

All Saints University School of Medicine, Dominica (ASUDOM) is a private medical school located in the Caribbean. The schools' campus is in Roseau, Dominica, and is administered from Toronto, Ontario. There is also an office in Chicago, Illinois.

Washington University of Barbados

The Washington University of Barbados (WUB) was established in 2016 and was granted charter from the Ministry of Education of Barbados during the same year. The university claimed to be devoted to preparing and educating students from across the globe to become professional doctors, but has been named as part of an international medical school scam. Both Dr. Rap and Mr. Dalchand have been arrested and charged before the Magistrates Court at District C in Barbados. Both are charged that they defrauded Casa Grande Hotel in St Philip; Furniture Ltd and Builders Mart. These are all businesses owned Mrs Ram Merchandani the owner of Casa Grande Hotel; the campus of the University. The charges arose when cheques tendered for services by these companies were dishonoured by the bank. The sums of monies are in excess of $300000.00 BDS. Both men are remanded in prison in Barbados awaiting hearing. They are set to reappear on Monday 22 September 2018.
