Ace of Herts

The Ace of Herts was one of the first dedicated Lambretta scooter clubs in greater London, running from 1958 to 1971.^[1]^[2] Based in Watford, Hertfordshire, it was formed by Arthur Francis, a scooter dealer.^[3] The club subsequently became the Watford Lambretta Club.^[4] This built upon the strength of Lambretta clubs elsewhere in the country, following on from the formation of the Lambretta Club of Great Britain in 1953, driven also by the emerging mod culture.^[5]

Achievements of club members include:

M. Evans: first testing of the Li 150 model (Li Series 2) during a 24-hour county challenge in 1960.^[6]
Hazel Holland (club secretary) on a solo 24 hour charity run.^[7]
Arthur Francis: British lambretta Rally Champion in 1964.^[3]
Roy Wilson winning the Southend International Scooter Rally Finals (out of 3000 riders).^[3]

The Lambretta Scooter Museum is in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England. Its 4,000 square feet (371.6 m²) houses a total of 61 Lambretta models – at least one from each year between October 1947 through to May 1971, collected by Nigel Cox, the author of Lambretta Innocenti: An Illustrated History.

The Heinkel Tourist is a motor scooter made by Heinkel Flugzeugwerke from 1953 to 1965. More than 100,000 were manufactured and sold.

The Grove is a large hotel in Hertfordshire, England, with a 300–acre (1.2 km²) private park next to the River Gade and the Grand Union Canal. It touches on its north-west corner the M25 motorway and remains a small part in Watford. The estate is situated within three different settlements; most of the land and all of the mansion itself are in the civil parish of Sarratt, and also in the ecclesiastical parish of Langleybury, while the estate lies within the post town of Rickmansworth.

Automobile Products of India (API) was founded in 1949 at Bombay, by the British company Rootes Group, and later bought over by M. A. Chidambaram of the MAC Group from Madras. The company manufactured Lambretta scooters, API Three Wheelers under license from Innocenti of Italy and Automobile ancillaries, notably Clutch and Braking systems. API's registered offices were earlier in Mumbai, later shifted to Chennai, in Tamil Nadu. The manufacturing facilities were located in Mumbai and Aurangabad in Maharashtra and in Ambattur, Chennai. The company has not been operational since 2002.

Lambretta is the brand name of mainly motor scooters, initially manufactured in Milan, Italy, by Innocenti.

The Lambretta Model A is the first production model of Lambretta scooters. It was Ferdinando Innocenti's idea of a cheap type of transport for Italy in the mid-late 1940s.

The Lambretta GP/DL range was the final range of classic Lambrettas to be produced before Lambretta was sold to British Leyland Motor Corporation in 1971. The range was called the DL in most countries, but was called the GP in Britain and some other countries. This was to associate the scooters with Formula One which was extremely popular and successful in the late 1960s.

Matthew James Howard is an English retired professional footballer who made one appearance in the Football League for Brentford as a right back. After his release in 1989, he dropped into non-League football and made over 100 appearances with both Boreham Wood and Hendon.

Darren Sarll is an English professional football manager and coach who is manager of Yeovil Town. He began his career in football as a midfielder in non-league football and entered management with Stevenage in 2016.

Scomadi is a brand of British designed scooters, produced in Thailand.
