Adam Lamhamedi (born 22 April 1995 in Quebec City, Quebec) is a Moroccan-Canadian alpine skier who has competed since 2010 on the FIS circuit. [1] Lamhamedi was born in Canada, and competed for Morocco at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Adam Lamhamedi was born on 22 April 1995 in Quebec City to a Moroccan father and a Canadian mother. [2] [3] He began skiing in childhood, winning his first competition at the age of eight. In 2011, he made the decision to compete on behalf of his father's country rather than Canada, both internationally and locally on the provincial ski circuit in Quebec. [2]
Lamhamedi's decision to represent Morocco instead of Canada meant that rather than needing good results in the provincial competitions to qualify internationally, he instead competes directly on behalf of the African nation since 2010. [2] [3] This included his selection for the inaugural Winter Youth Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria, where he was the gold medallist in the first ever boy's super-G competition. This made Lamhamedi the first person representing an African nation to win a medal at Winter Olympic Games of any type. [4] During the course of that year, he was ranked first in Canada for giant slalom and second in slalom. [2]
In the following ski season, he secured enough points to qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. [4] He was selected as one of the two person delegation, with his brother Sami also attending the Games as a substitute. [5] He finished in 47th position in the men's giant slalom, [6] but did not finish in the slalom. [7]

She was initially banned from skiing by the International Ski Federation (FIS) after participating in a qualifying race allegedly organised to enable her to qualify for the Winter Olympics. An appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport led to the ban being nullified, citing lack of evidence for her own wrongdoing or any manipulation. The FIS later issued an apology to her.

Although Pellegrin was born in France, her great-grandfather had moved to France from Malta, which gave her the opportunity to compete for the country. Pellegrin was also the flagbearer for Malta at the opening ceremony.
Kenza Tazi is an American-born Moroccan alpine skier. She competed for Morocco at the 2014 Winter Olympics in the slalom and giant slalom.
Alessia Afi Dipol is an Italian-Togolese alpine skier who competed for Togo at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics in the slalom and giant slalom. Dipol also originally competed for India between 2011 and 2013, but she later switched to compete for Togo even though she has no familial connections to the country, so she could qualify to compete at the 2014 Winter Olympics. She also chose to represent the country because her father owns a clothing factory in Togo.
Olivier Jenot is an alpine skier from Monaco. He competed for Monaco at the 2014 Winter Olympics in four alpine skiing events. Jenot was also selected to carry the Monégasque flag during the opening ceremony.
Alexandre Mohbat is an alpine skier from Lebanon. He competed for Lebanon at the 2014 Winter Olympics in the slalom and giant slalom.

The delegation consisted of a single alpine skier, Mher Avanesyan, who lost both arms as a child after coming into contact with a high-voltage electrical wire. In the men's standing slalom he came in 34th place out of 35 competitors who finished the race, and he failed to finish the giant slalom.
New Zealand sent a delegation to compete at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Russia, held between 7–16 March 2014. The country continued its streak of competing in every Winter Paralympics since 1984. New Zealand's delegation consisted of three competitors in alpine skiing, one of whom, Corey Peters, won a silver medal in the giant slalom. With one silver medal, the country tied for 16th on the medal table for these Paralympics.
Adam Barwood is an alpine skier from New Zealand. He competed for New Zealand at the 2014 Winter Olympics in the slalom and giant slalom. Adam's career in ski racing began at Coronet Peak in 2001 with a school holiday programme learning to ski and weekends, to where he now a full-time athlete. He has also spent time training at Cardrona and Treble Cone. Since 2004, summers have been spent in the northern hemisphere continuing the training in Europe, Canada and the USA. Adam participated in the Olympics in Sochi, Russia February 2014 in slalom and giant slalom (44th).
Sylvain Dufour is a French alpine snowboarder. He claimed two silver medals each in giant slalom and slalom at the 2009 FIS Snowboarding World Championships in Gangwon, South Korea, and later represented his nation France in two editions of the Olympic Games. Dufour currently trains for Ski Club Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines under his personal coach and mentor Christophe Guinamard.
