He received the National Youth Award in 2007 for his contributions to poetry and literature. He served as a lecturer at the Islamic University of Maldives for 29 years. [5]

Maumoon Abdul Gayoom is a Maldivian politician who served as President of the Maldives from 1978 to 2008. After serving as transport minister,he was nominated president by the People's Majlis and succeeded Ibrahim Nasir in 1978. He was defeated in 2008 during the first Presidential Elections after democratic reforms in the Maldives. He holds the nations highest award,"The Most Honourable Order of Distinguished Rule of Ghaazee",presented to him in 2013. Maumoon was the longest-serving president in Asia.
Al Ameer Ibrahim Nasir Rannabandeyri Kilegefan,KCMG,NGIV commonly known as Ibrahim Nasir,was a Maldivian politician adhering to the non-aligned ideology and staunch anti-imperialist. Nasir served as the Prime Minister of the Maldives from 1957 to 1968 under the monarchy,and later the first President of the Second Republic of Maldives from 1968 to 1978. Nasir served two terms,then he decided to retire,even though the People's Majlis voted him in for a third term. Nasir is remembered as an independence hero for guiding the Maldives to independence from the British Empire,he is also credited for establishing the tourism industry in the Maldives,as well as rapidly modernizing and developing the country and economy.

Sumuvvul Ameer Mohamed Amin Dhoshimeynaa Kilegefaanu,popularly known as Mohamed Amin Didi,was a Maldivian politician. Dr. Mohamed Zahir Hussain,(Dhivehi:ޑރ. މުޙައްމަދުޒާހިރުޙުސައިން) is the chancellor of the Islamic University of Maldives. He was appointed by the former president,Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. He was also the chancellor of Maldives National University and the former Minister of Education as well as the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Maldives. He resigned from the post of Youth Minister in the year 2004 but was again appointed as a senior minister in 2006 and served in the cabinet of President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom until 2008 presidential election. In 2008,he was conferred the distinguished "Order of Izzuddin" by President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. He is also the Chairman/Owner of the newspaper Haveeru Daily which was established in 1978. His wife was Naalia Ibrahim Kaleyfaan, who died in 2021 while receiving treatment at ADK Hospital. She was a teacher at Aminiya School for 25 years,and the first chancellor of the Islamic University of Maldives. Zahir has three children –Leena Zahir Hussain,Vail Zahir Hussain and Lubna Zahir Hussain.
Ibrahim Muhammad Didi,was Vice President of Maldives. While people demanded him to be president on terms that the vacancy of the office of the President leads to the succession of the vice president to the presidency,Ibrahim Didi served as acting president from September 2,1953,to March 7,1954,after the banishment of Mohamed Amin Didi. He was the first person to serve as Vice President as well as Acting President in the Maldives.
