Adam Joseph van Koeverden is a Canadian sprint kayaker and politician. He is an Olympic gold medallist in the K-1 500m category (2004) and a two-time world champion in K-1 500 (2007) and K-1 1000 (2011), winning four Olympic and eight world championship medals. His home club is the Burloak Canoe Club in Oakville, Ontario.

This makes the narrower boats much faster and popular when it comes to racing.

The 2002 European Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Bratislava, Slovakia between 12 and 14 July 2002 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). The team events were held as an open event for both senior and U23 athletes. Countries were allowed to enter two teams in each team event. Since 2004 the junior and U23 age categories are held annually together as part of the same event. Athletes under the age of 18 are eligible for the junior category.
