The Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education was established in 2014. It was formerly known as Bauchi State Institute ADAMU TAFAWA BALEWA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION KANGERE. [4]

Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was a Nigerian politician who served as the first and only prime minister of Nigeria upon independence. A conservative Anglophile, he favoured maintaining close ties with the British. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) is a federal university of technology located in Bauchi, north eastern part of Nigeria. The university is named after the first and only Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. The motto of the university is "Doctrina Mater Artium", which means "Education is the mother of the practical arts".

Tafawa Balewa is a local government area in the Southern part of Bauchi State in northern Nigeria. Its headquarters was in the town of Tafawa Balewa, but has no being shifted to Bununu town in 2011 due to constant unrest in the former.

Danladi Slim Matawal is a Nigerian distinguished Professor of ; a former Director-General & CEO, Nigerian Building & Road Research Institute (NBRRI), an agency of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology. He is currently back to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi - Nigeria.

The 1999 Bauchi State gubernatorial election occurred in Nigeria on January 9, 1999. The PDP nominee, Adamu Mu'azu, polled 56% of total vote to win the election, defeating the APP candidate and others.
