Deji Adeleke (born 6 March 1956) [1] [2] is a Nigerian business magnate and president of Adeleke University. [3] [4] He is also the CEO of Pacific Holdings Limited. [5] He is the father of Davido, a Nigerian musician [6] [7] and Sharon Adeleke. [8] He was married to Dr Vero Adeleke who died on 6 March 2003. His younger brother Ademola Adeleke is the governor of Osun State. [9]

The 2019 Lagos gubernatorial election was conducted on 9 March to choose the Governor of Lagos State. The election was held concurrently with various state level elections. Incumbent APC Governor Akinwunmi Ambode lost to the APC flag bearer Babajide Sanwo-Olu at a direct primary election in October 2018 and hence ineligible to run for second term under APC. Babajide Sanwo-Olu won in a landslide against Jimi Agbaje of the PDP who had previously run unsuccessfully for Lagos state governor twice. From 1999, Lagos state has been governed by AD, AC, then ACN, three parties which subsequently formed part of the coalition that birthed the APC in 2013.

The 2022 Osun State gubernatorial election took place on 16 July 2022, to elect the governor of Osun State. Incumbent All Progressives Congress Governor Gboyega Oyetola was eligible for re-election but lost by a 3.5% margin to former Senator Ademola Adeleke—the nominee of the Peoples Democratic Party. Adeleke and his running mate, Kola Adewusi, were inaugurated on 27 November. However, the Election Petition Tribunal overturned the result on 27 January 2023, awarding the win to Oyetola; Adeleke immediately appealed the ruling and remains in office pending the results of further litigation.
