Al-Gharafa Sports Club is a Qatari multi-sports club based in the Al Gharrafa district of Al Rayyan municipality. The club is best known for its football team, although it also has teams for other sports. The club was established on 6 June 1979 as Al-Ittihad and later officially incorporated into the Qatar Football Association on 23 September of that same year. The club was officially renamed to its current form in 2004 to better represent the district of Al-Gharafa, where the club is located. The club was most notably founded by Sheikh Mohammed bin Jassim Al-Thani, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al-Thani, Sheikh Hamad bin Faisal Al-Thani, Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al-Thani and Saad Mohammed Al-Rumaihi. In a documentary produced by Al Kass sports channel about the history of the club, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim mentioned that the idea was initially suggested by Saad Al-Rumaihi who was working as a sports journalist at the Al Raya newspaper.
Antoine "T. T." Toliver is a former arena football wide receiver. He played football and basketball at Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida. In 1995, he was named the Class 5A Player of the Year in football and was also runner-up for Florida's Mr. Football Award. In basketball, Toliver helped Mainland win the Class 6A state championship in 1995 and 1996. He played college football and basketball at Hinds Community College, where he was named the 1997–98 Junior College Player of the Year as a quarterback. He later transferred to Bethune-Cookman University, where he played basketball but not football.

Mohammed Salem Al Enazi is a retired footballer who played as a striker. Born in Qatar, he represented the Qatar national team and before switching to represent the United Arab Emirates national team in 2009.
Younes Ahmed is a former Qatari football goalkeeper. He played for both Al Rayyan and the Qatari national team. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1984 Summer Olympics.
Mubarak Mustafa Fazli is a Qatari former footballer who formerly worked as a sports analyst for Al Kass and now works for BeIN Sports as a sports analyst. He is known for his numerous achievements with Qatari club Al-Arabi, as well as being the former captain of the Qatar national team.
