Adeoluwa Emmanuel Owu commonly known as Captain Degzy [1] is a Nigerian film director, and cinematographer, best known for his works on the films, A Tribe Called Judah , [2] Far From Home , Shanty Town , and Jagun Jagun which earned him a nomination at the AMVCA for Best Cinematography. [3] In 2023, FilmOne listed him as the highest-grossing director on Nigeria BoxOffice Yearbook. [4]

Early life and education

Adeoluwa Emmanuel Owu was born in Ilorin, Kwara State. [5] He hails from Kogi State and is of Yagba descent. [5] Owu attended the University of Ilorin before proceeding to the Pefti Film Institute in Lagos, where holds a degree in filmmaking, and sharpening his skills while he was in the institution as a cinematographer, editor, and director. [5]

Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, also known as Living in Bondage II, is a 2019 Nigerian supernatural thriller executive produced by Charles Okpaleke. A sequel to the 1992 classic Living in Bondage, the film stars Kenneth Okonkwo, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Enyinna Nwigwe, and Muna Abii, with Swanky JKA in his breakout role, and Ramsey Nouah, who makes his directorial debut, playing the main villain. Tolulope Obanro known professionally as Tolu Obanro is a Nigerian film composer. He made the score for Gangs of Lagos, Jagun Jagun and A Tribe Called Judah which became the first Nollywood movie to hit 1 billion naira at the box office.
