Production

The film is directed by Alex Winter who also stars and is a producer. The film was initially entitled The Adults. [2] Scott Kroopf, Lisa Wolofsky, Russell Hollander, Michael Cho, Tim Lee, Danny Roberts, H.S. Naji and Jackie Langelier are also producers. Mimi Rode and Connie Tavel are serving as Executive Producers on the feature film. Michael M.B. Galvin wrote the script. [3] Olive Hill Media is the lead equity financier for the film. [4]

In May 2024, Kaya Scodelario and Billie Lourd joined the cast which also contained Josh Gad, and Anthony Carrigan, and principal photography got underway in Ottawa. [5]

Release

In October 2024, Republic Pictures acquired North American distribution rights to the film. [6]

The Smurfs Movie is an upcoming animated musical fantasy film based on The Smurfs comic book series created by the Belgian comics artist Peyo. A reboot of The Smurfs film series, it is directed by Chris Miller and co-directed by Matt Landon, from a screenplay written by Pam Brady. The film stars Rihanna as the voice of Smurfette, alongside an ensemble cast including Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, JP Karliak, Dan Levy, Amy Sedaris, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham, Sandra Oh, Alex Winter, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña, Kurt Russell, and John Goodman. In February 2022, it was reported that LAFIG Belgium and IMPS, the owners of the Smurfs brand, had agreed to a partnership with Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies to produce multiple animated Smurfs films, with the first project being a musical. Noah Egidi Galvin is an American actor and singer. He portrayed Kenny O'Neal in the ABC sitcom The Real O'Neals and was the second person to perform the title role in the Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen. He also played Dr. Asher Wolke in the TV series The Good Doctor, originated the role of the Duchess in the off-Broadway musical Alice by Heart, and sung as Brian on the cast recording of the musical adaptation of Goosebumps. For his performance in Theater Camp, Galvin received a nomination for Best Supporting Performance at the 39th Independent Spirit Awards.

Avenue 5 is a science fiction comedy television series created by Armando Iannucci that premiered on HBO in the United States on January 19, 2020. It stars Hugh Laurie and Josh Gad in lead roles as captain and owner of a fictional interplanetary cruise ship Avenue 5. HBO produced the series in the United States and Sky UK in the United Kingdom. In February 2020, just days before the COVID-19 pandemic led to worldwide lockdowns, the series was renewed for a second season; filming moved forward in late 2021, with a release date of October 10, 2022.
