Usha Khanna is an Indian music director in Hindi cinema. She is the third female music director to enter the Hindi film industry, after Jaddan Bai and Saraswati Devi and is one of the most commercially successful music directors in the male dominated music industry. She is most known for songs like Hum tum say juda ho ke "Chhodo kal ki baatein", "Shaayad meri shaadi ka khayal", "Zindagi pyaar ka geet hai" and "Aap to aise na the". It was written by Kamleshwar, with music by Usha Khanna. The song "Shayad Meri Shaadi" became especially memorable. Khanna's chemistry with Munim also proved popular. The film was remade in Kannada as Krishna Nee Begane Baro and in Telugu as Tene Manasulu. Souten was a silver jubilee hit on its release.

Samay Bada Balwan is a 1969 Hindi social moral drama film produced and directed by Sohrab Modi. This was the only film in which Modi used Usha Khanna as a music composer. Mehtab acted together again with Modi in Samay Bada Balwan in a supporting role as Modi's wife. This was to be the last acting role of her career. The film starred Sohrab Modi, Mehtab, Aruna Irani, Sailesh Kumar, Shahida, David, and Helen.

Samarpane is a 1983 Indian Kannada film based on the novel of the same name by Usha Navratnaram, directed by H. R. Bhargava and produced by P. Krishnaraj. The film stars Aarathi in the main role of the female protagonist Sarla opposite Rajeev and Jai Jagadish. The film has musical score by M. Ranga Rao. Saritha had initially been approached for the role but could not accommodate her dates. Aarathi who had previously starred in two movies based on Usha Navratnaram's novels was signed for the role.
