Ahasanul Islam Titu (born 11 December 1969) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and a former Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Tangail-6 constituency. [1] In January 2024, he was appointed the state minister of commerce.

Education

Titu graduated from Assumption University (Thailand) with a BBA degree and got an MBA from Pittsburg State University, US, in 1993. [2]

Career

Titu was elected to parliament from Tangail-6 as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate on 30 December 2018. [3] [4] Titu was the founding president of the Dhaka Stock Exchange's Brokerage Association. [5]

Associations

Titu is a businessman who has a long history of involvement in the financial sector of Bangladesh. In 1998 he was the convener of "DSE Automation Process Committee" [6] and automation of Dhaka Stock Exchange trading started on 10 August 1998. From 2005 to 2010 he was a member of the executive committee of the Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) and in 2012 was the vice president of BIA. [7]

Titu was elected as the president of Dhaka Stock Exchange on 15 June 2013. [2] Prior to that, he held the position of senior vice president of DSE from 16 March 2011, to 15 March 2012, after being elected director on 16 March 2011, for the third time. [8] Before that he held the position of vice chairman of DSE from 30 March 2000, to 29 March 2001, and from 18 December 1997, to 30 March 2000, he was the councillor of DSE.[ citation needed ]

Abdul Kader Siddique is a Bangladeshi politician. He served as a Mukti Bahini member and organizer of the Bangladesh Liberation War. He fought with an estimated 17,000-strong guerrilla force in the Tangail region against the Pakistan Army. The army was called Kaderia Bahini. At the end of the war in 1971, Siddique's forces entered Dhaka along with the Indian forces, signaling the end of the war. He was awarded Bir Uttom by the Government of Bangladesh. Since 1999, he has been serving as the leader of his newly formed party, the Krishak Sramik Janata League.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), located in Nikunja, Dhaka, is one of the two stock exchanges of Bangladesh, the other being the Chittagong Stock Exchange. In January 2023, DSE and Nasdaq announced their partnership with trading technology.

Shajahan Siraj was a Bangladeshi politician who served as the vice chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). As a student, he was involved with the Bangladesh Liberation War. He was one of the founders of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal. He was a member of Jatiya Sangsad representing the Tangail-4 constituency.

He was the president of several trade bodies, including the Association of Television Channel Owners (ATCO). He is currently in the custody of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on the charge of instigating killing during the Bangladesh quota reform movement.

Mohammad Abdur Razzaque is a Bangladeshi politician. He is a former Jatiya Sangsad member reprenseting the Tangail-1 constituency during 2001–2024. He was the Minister of Agriculture of Bangladesh. He served as Minister of Food and Disaster Management from 2009 to 2012 and then, as Minister of Food until 2013. He has been the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for Finance since 2014. He has also been serving as a presidium member of Bangladesh Awami League since 2016.
