Ahmad Canaan (born 1965 in Tamra) is a painter and sculptor.

He received a BFA from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. He is the curator of Jaffa Salon of Palestinian Art. [1] His work includes both paintings and sculptures artwork. He received several national and international awards: in 1989, he was the recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Prize, and in 2003, and 2010 he received the Artist in the Community Grant, from the Israeli Ministry of Culture.

Career

Kanaan has participated in several solo and group exhibitions in Israel, the West Bank, the US, Japan, Russia, and Germany, including solo shows in Open Museum in Tefen, [2] Museum on the Seam, [3] Wilfrid Israel Museum and The Museum of Islamic Art in Jerusalem. [4]

The 2011 Tel Aviv nightclub attack was a combined vehicular assault and stabbing attack carried out at 01:40 (GMT+2) 29 August 2011 in which a Palestinian attacker stole an Israeli taxi cab and rammed it into a police checkpoint guarding the popular nightclub, Haoman 17, in Tel Aviv which was filled with 2,000 Israeli teenagers. After crashing into the checkpoint, the attacker jumped out of the vehicle and began stabbing people. Four civilians, four police officers, and also perpetrator were injured in the attack. The perpetrator was living illegally in Israel at the time of the attack.

Moshe Rosenthalis was a Lithuanian-Israeli painter and an art teacher. As a young artist in Lithuania, then part of the Soviet Union, he adapted the dominant Socialist realist discipline. After his immigration to Israel in 1958, where he lived and created for 50 years until his death, he implemented various art methods, including Abstract, Fauvism, Figurative, Expressionism and diverse media and bases. He painted thousands of drawings, portraits, and engravings. His paintings were characterized by vivid colors and Joie de vivre. Many of his works drew inspiration from the Israeli landscapes, images, and peoples, especially of Jaffa Port and Safed.
