Ainjel Emme (born September 28, 1978) is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and recording engineer. [1] She has worked with artists such as David Bowie, Aly & AJ, Kristeen Young, Cherry Glazerr, Hazel English and Nasty Cherry.
Emme started as an independent singer-songwriter before pivoting into working as a producer/engineer. She took an internship at a local recording studio in Los Angeles while living in her mother's walk-in closet. Emme then worked for Interscope Records. [2]
As a record producer, Emme specializes in vocal production. Emme was the vocal producer for Aly & AJ's album A Touch of the Beat Gets You Up on Your Feet Gets You Out and Then Into the Sun (2021). Billboard included the album on their list of Best Albums in the first half of 2021, and the music video for "Pretty Places" has over 800k views. [3]
Emme was vocal producer on the 2021 Metallica tribute, the Metallica Blacklist, on the track My Friend of Misery with artist Cherry Glazerr. [4]
Emme was vocal producer and engineer for American Landfill, a track by Kristeen Young featuring David Bowie on the compilation album The Turning: Kate's Diary (an additional soundtrack for the film The Turning). [5]

As a singer-songwriter, she has released two albums: Heartache Is Boring in 2003 and Everyone Is Beautiful in 2011. Emme performed on the Hello Kitty branded album Hello World under Hello Kitty's Lakeshore Records record label. [8]

John William Stevenson is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is the drummer, main songwriter, and only constant member of the California punk rock group Descendents since its inception. In late December 1981, he played a few concerts with the hardcore punk band Black Flag because their drummer, Robo was detained in England after a tour there. He went on to record with Black Flag on several of their albums until 1985, including the highly influential My War. After this, he focused his attention on Descendents and played with the band until lead singer Milo Aukerman left in 1987. After Milo's departure, Bill and the other members of Descendents, Karl Alvarez and Stephen Egerton, recruited singer Dave Smalley of Dag Nasty, moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, and formed ALL. ALL went on to have two more singers, Scott Reynolds (1989–1993) and Chad Price (1993–present). Aukerman came back for the 1996 album Everything Sucks, the 2004 album Cool to Be You, 2016's Hypercaffium Spazzinate and the newest album 9th and Walnut. All and Descendents continue to tour between Stevenson's and Aukerman's respective careers as a recording engineer and a biochemist. Stevenson was born in Torrance, California and attended Mira Costa High School, with fellow members of the Descendents.

The majority of songs are cover versions of religious Christmas carols or contemporary classics. Two originals appear on the set, which were written by Aly & AJ with Armato and James. Musically, the album has an instrument-driven acoustic feel, primarily by guitar. It utilizes pop music influences on Christmas music. The album sold 110,000 copies in the United States.

The band's sound has transitioned from lo-fi and garage rock on their debut release Haxel Princess in 2014 to a more polished rock sound, with elements of grunge, punk and new wave on their subsequent releases Apocalipstick and Stuffed & Ready. Their fourth studio album, I Don't Want You Anymore, was released on Secretly Canadian on September 29, 2023.

A Touch of the Beat Gets You Up on Your Feet Gets You Out and Then Into the Sun is the fourth studio album by American duo Aly & AJ, released on May 7, 2021. The release marks their first studio album in 14 years, following Insomniatic in 2007. The album was produced by Yves Rothman, and each track holds writing credits from both Michalka sisters. Aly & AJ stated that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, it did not hinder their writing process, as they felt that they were "born to make" this album. They stated that while making the album, they were influenced by 1960s and 1970s music, and that it would differ from their two previous projects, Ten Years (2017) and Sanctuary (2019), which were influenced by 1980s music. The duo also wanted to capture the music of their home state California, and create a body of work that felt "timeless" to listeners. The result was a pop and pop rock record that draws musical influence from disco, soft rock, and country.
