Aisha Falode is a sports journalist and radio broadcaster in Nigeria and president of Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL). [1] [2] [3]

She worked briefly with NITEL (Nigerian Telecommunication Limited) and again with the Graduate Telephone Operators Scheme of the then NITEL. When Raymond Dokpesi was planning his own broadcasting station now known as the African Independent Television (AIT) she became involved. She acquired a graduate degree in Mass Communications. In January 2017, she was inaugurated by Nigeria Football Federation as the head of Nigeria Women Football League, the body that organizes Aiteo Cup and Nigeria Women Premier League. [7]

In November 2017, Aisha Falode was elected chairperson of the league board, and was officially designated in January 2017.

The tournament along with Nigeria Women Premier League are the two recognized competition for women football organized by the Nigeria Football Federation. The finals are usually played at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos State.

The Nigeria Women Football League is the body responsible for organization the top three tiers of women's association football in Nigeria. They organize the NWFL Premiership, NWFL Championship and NWFL Nationwide leagues. Historically, the Nigeria Football Federation appoints the executive board for the NWFL.

The 2017 Nigeria Women Premier League began on March 25, 2017. The date was fixed during the congress for women football league system in Nigeria on February 22, 2017, in Abuja, which had the Minister for Sports, Solomon Dalung in attendance. Martin White Doves, Tokas Queens, Capital City Doves and Taraba Queens were relegated from the previous season. Heartland Queens of Owerri and Sadaatu Kolo Amazons of Niger State were promoted to the elite division. Rofiat Sule, the top scorer of the last two seasons and Evelyn Nwabuoku, captain of the national team amongst others were signed by Rivers Angels F.C. In March 2017, previously relegated Capital City Doves were re-added to the league, increasing the number of teams to seventeen. On 24 March, COD United Amazons F.C. and Capital City Doves were confirmed to be excluded from the league after failing to meet the registration deadline. This reduced the number of teams to fifteen.

Aishah Ndanusa AhmadCFA is a Nigerian accountant and finance professional. She is a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria having been appointed on 6 October 2017, replacing Sarah Alade, who retired in March 2017. She was confirmed by the Nigerian Senate on 22 March 2018. On 6 December 2022, Ahmad was reappointed deputy governor for a second five-year term and subsequently confirmed by the Senate on 14 December 2022. However, on 15 September 2023, she was removed from office by President Bola Tinubu alongside three other deputy governors for alleged corporate governance failures at the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Adenrele Sonariwo is a Nigerian entrepreneur and art curator. She is the founder of the Rele Art Gallery on Military Street, Onikan, Lagos Island, Lagos, Nigeria as well as the Rele Art Gallery on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, California. Rele Gallery is the first African contemporary art gallery to establish an outpost in Los Angeles. Sonariwo was the lead curator of the first Nigerian pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017. Alongside the Rele Art Gallery, Sonariwo is also the founding director of the Rele Arts Foundation. The 2023–24 NWFL Premiership was the 34th season of the women's football top-level league in Nigeria. The season commenced on 14 November 2023 and completed with the Super Six on 26 May 2024. Edo Queens won their first title after finishing top of the Super Six table.

Vivian Obianujunwa Ikechukwu is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Turkish Women's Football Super League club Beşiktaş J.K. and for the Nigeria national team.
