Aivis Ronis (born 20 May 1968) [1] is a Latvian diplomat and politician and was Minister for Foreign Affairs of Latvia from 29 April 2010 to 3 November 2010, [2] from 2011 to 2013 he was Minister for Transport of Latvia. From June 2000 to September 2004 he was the Latvian ambassador to the United States. [3]
Cyprus is a member of the United Nations along with most of its agencies as well as the Commonwealth of Nations,World Bank,International Monetary Fund and Council of Europe. In addition,the country has signed the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency Agreement (MIGA). Cyprus has been a member of the European Union since 2004 and in the second half of 2012 it held the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The foreign relations of the Italian Republic are the Italian government's external relations with the outside world. Located in Europe,Italy has been considered a major Western power since its unification in 1860. Its main allies are the NATO countries and the EU states,two entities of which Italy is a founding member. South Korea maintains diplomatic relations with 191 countries. The country has also been a member of the United Nations since 1991,when it became a member state at the same time as North Korea. South Korea has also hosted major international events such as the 1988 Summer Olympics and 2002 World Cup Football Tournament and the 2011 IAAF World Championships Daegu South Korea. Furthermore,South Korea had hosted the 2018 Winter Olympics which took place in Pyeongchang from 9 to 25 February.
Uzbekistan joined the Commonwealth of Independent States in December 1991. However,it is opposed to reintegration and withdrew from the CIS collective security arrangement in 1999. Since that time,Uzbekistan has participated in the CIS peacekeeping force in Tajikistan and in United Nations-organized groups to help solve the Tajik and Afghan conflicts,both of which it sees as posing threats to its own stability. Uzbekistan is an active supporter of U.S. efforts against worldwide terrorism and joined the coalitions which have dealt with both Afghanistan and Iraq. It is a member of the United Nations,the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council,Partnership for Peace,and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). It belongs to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Economic Cooperation Organization,which comprises 7 Central Asian countries:Pakistan,Uzbekistan,Kazakhstan,Turkmenistan,Afghanistan,Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. It is a founding member of and remains involved in the Central Asian Union,formed with Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan,joined in March 1998 by Tajikistan.
The American Institute in Taiwan is the de facto embassy of the United States of America in Taiwan. AIT is a wholly owned subsidiary of the federal government of the United States in Taiwan with Congressional oversight. The AIT was officially created as a U.S. government-sponsored nonprofit,private corporation established under the auspices of the U.S. government to serve its interests in Taiwan.
The Republic of Artsakh was a republic with limited recognition in the South Caucasus region. The Republic of Artsakh controlled most of the territory of the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast. It was recognized only by three other non-UN member states,Abkhazia,South Ossetia and Transnistria. The rest of the international community recognized Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan. In November 2012,a member of Uruguay's foreign relations committee stated that his country could recognize Nagorno-Karabakh's independence. In 2012,Armenia and Tuvalu established diplomatic relations,which led to speculation of possible recognition of Artsakh by Tuvalu. In October 2012,the Australian state of New South Wales recognized Nagorno-Karabakh. In September 2014,the Basque Parliament in Spain adopted a motion supporting Artsakh's right to self-determination and in November 2014,the Parliament of Navarre,also in Spain,issued a statement supporting Artsakh's inclusion in taking part in settlement negotiations.
Anatols Dinbergs was one of the preeminent career diplomats of Latvia. He entered service in Latvia's Foreign Ministry in 1932. Dinbergs remained abroad when the Soviet Union occupied Latvia,serving in the Latvian Legation in Washington,D.C.,after World War II ended. Dinbergs assumed the highest diplomatic post,that of chargéd'affaires,in 1970 and represented Latvia's sovereign interests in exile until Latvia reestablished its independence in 1991. As head of the Latvian diplomatic service abroad,Dinbergs was appointed Latvia's first ambassador to the United Nations and subsequently Latvia's first ambassador to the United States. After retirement,he served as Counselor to the Latvian Embassy in Washington,D.C.,until his death in 1993.
Foreign relations of Kosovo are accomplished by efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo. Kosovo operates 33 embassies abroad and is host to 22 embassies in Pristina. Kosovo has membership in several international organisations.
Iceland–Latvia relations are bilateral relations between Iceland and the Republic of Latvia. Iceland was the first country to recognize the independence of Latvia in August 1991. Both countries re-established diplomatic relations on 22 August 1991. Neither country has a resident ambassador. Iceland is represented in Latvia through its embassy in Helsinki,Finland. Latvia is represented in Iceland through its embassy in Oslo,Norway and an honorary consulate in Iceland's capital Reykjavík.
Richard Rahul Verma is an American diplomat,who serves as the deputy secretary of state for management and resources,a position he has held since April 5,2023. He served as the assistant secretary of state for legislative affairs from 2009 to 2011,and as the U.S. ambassador to India from 2014 to 2017. He served as the chief legal officer and head of global public policy at Mastercard,from 2020 to 2023,and as the vice chair of the Asia Group from 2017 to 2020,where he oversaw the firm's South Asia practice. Donald Lu is a United States diplomat serving as Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs since 2021. He previously served as both the United States Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan from 2018 to 2021 and the United States Ambassador to Albania from 2015 to 2018.
Abkhazia and Vanuatu established relations when Vanuatu recognised Abkhazia's independence on 23 May 2011. On that day a joint statement on establishment of diplomatic relations was signed. However,the exact nature of the recognition was a matter of dispute and was not regularized until July 2013. However,over the years and part of domestic powerplay within Vanuatu's government,the recognition has swung back and forth. In 2019 Vanuatu's minister of Foreign Affairs "confirmed Vanuatu’s support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity" and effectively withdrew the recognition of Abkhazia.
Kosovo–Pakistan relations refer to the bilateral ties between the Republic of Kosovo and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Kosovo is a partially recognized state that is claimed by Serbia in its entirety as the Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija. On 24 December 2012,Pakistan recognized Kosovo as an independent state,becoming the 98th state to do so. Simultaneously,Pakistan's ambassador to Turkey in Ankara was accredited to Kosovo.

International reactions to the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation have largely been condemnatory of Russia's actions,supportive of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity,and supportive of finding a quick end to the crisis. The United States and the European Union responded by enacting sanctions against Russia for its role in the crisis,and urged Russia to withdraw. Russia accused the United States and the EU of funding and directing the revolution and retaliated to the sanctions by imposing its own.
Tabarak Husain was a former Bangladeshi career diplomat. He was foreign secretary of Bangladesh from 1975 to 1978. He also held the position of chairman of Sadharan Bima Corporation and Grameen Bank.
The Swedish Embassy in Pyongyang is Sweden's diplomatic mission in North Korea,which is located in the country's capital Pyongyang. The Swedish Embassy was one of the first embassies in North Korea,opening in 1975. The ambassador since July 2021 is Andreas Bengtsson. Until 2001,Sweden was the only Western country with uninterrupted diplomatic representation in the city. The Swedish embassy serves as the protecting power for the United States and as consular representation for Australia,Canada,Italy,Latvia,Iceland and Finland.
