Ajeenkya D Y Patil is an Indian educationist and economist. He is the son of D. Y. Patil. He is Chairman of the D Y Patil Group, Chancellor of Ajeenkya D Y Patil University and Pro-chancellor of the Dr. D. Y. Patil University. [1]
Ajeenkya D Y Patil was born in Mumbai, the son of Pushpalata Patil and D. Y. Patil, a Padma Shri recipient, and founder of the D Y Patil Group. After his initial schooling and graduation, Patil did his MBA from Richmond College, UK and specialization in Marketing from the London School of Economics. He has been awarded an honorary doctorate by University of Central Lancashire, United Kingdom, for his achievements in the field of education.
Ajeenkya Patil was appointed as Chairman of CII Western Region Sub Committee on Education in March 2016. He has also served as Chairman of the Central Board for Workers Education (CBWE) [2] by Ministry of Labour, Government of India. Patil has been appointed as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Guyana by the Government of Guyana. [3] He stood for the 2014 elections in the Karad south assembly constituency against the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Prithviraj Chavan. [4] Patil was honoured with the Budhbhushan Jeevan Gaurav Award. [5] He has also been conferred as the “Times Men of the Year 2018” [6] He was given the Best Leader and Best Brand Award 2019, by India's 100 Greatest Brand & Leaders which is an IPR-based (Intellectual Property Rights) award. Ajeenkya D Y Patil University, Pune has been established under Maharashtra Govt. Act of 2015 of Government of Maharashtra. The undergraduate and graduate programs under this university are automobile designing, digital modelling, engineering, management, media and communication, architecture, filmmaking and law. Yashwantrao Balwantrao Chavan was an Indian politician. He served as the last Chief Minister of Bombay State and the first of Maharashtra after latter was created by the division of Bombay state. His last significant ministerial post was as the Deputy Prime Minister of India in the short lived Charan Singh government in 1979. He was a strong Congress leader, co-operative leader, social activist and writer. He was popularly known as Leader of Common People. He advocated social democracy in his speeches and articles and was instrumental in establishing co-operatives in Maharashtra for the betterment of the farmers.

He is best known as the architect of India's national initiative in supercomputing where he led the development of Param supercomputers. Although a parliamentary democracy, Indian politics has increasing become dynastic, possibly due to the absence of a party organization, independent civil society associations that mobilize support for the party, and centralized financing of elections. Family members have also led the Congress party for most of the period since 1978 when Indira Gandhi floated the then Congress(I) faction of the party. It also is fairly common also in many political parties in Maharashtra. The dynastic phenomenon is seen from national level down to district level and even village level.The three-tier structure of Panchayati Raj created in the 1960s also helped to create and consolidate this phenomenon in rural areas. Apart from government,political families also control cooperative institutions, mainly cooperative sugar factories and district cooperative banks in the state. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party also features several senior leaders who are dynasts. In Maharashtra, the NCP has particularly high level of dynasticism.
The Pune Shiv Sena murder was the attack and murder of Mohsin Shaikh in Pune on 2 June 2014. Communal tensions followed public awareness of derogatory photographs of Shivaji and Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray uploaded to social media. Public buses were vandalized and arrests were made. The uploads were made through foreign proxy servers traced to sources in India. Home minister R R Patil said authorities know who uploaded the images and that Mohsin was innocent and died in the riots. The Government of Maharashtra announced compensation to his family. Before this, Nikhil Tikone of Kasba Peth was targeted by both Muslim and Hindus during communal tensions.
Balmohan Vidyamandir was founded on June 03, 1940 by Late Shri. S.D.Rege alias “Dada” as he was fondly known amongst his students, parents and the community, was a teacher par excellence.
