Ọlagunsoye Oyinlọla is a retired Nigerian general, he became governor of Osun State, Nigeria in May 2003, and was reelected in 2007. He was a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). On 26 November 2010 a court of appeals nullified his election. He later defected to the APC shortly before the 2014 Osun State governorship election. He was former military administrator of Lagos State.

Incumbent All Progressives Congress Governor Gboyega Oyetola was eligible for re-election but lost by a 3.5% margin to former Senator Ademola Adeleke—the nominee of the Peoples Democratic Party. Adeleke and his running mate, Kola Adewusi, were inaugurated on 27 November. However, the Election Petition Tribunal overturned the result on 27 January 2023, awarding the win to Oyetola; Adeleke immediately appealed the ruling and remains in office pending the results of further litigation.

Olubiyi Fadeyi-Ajagunla is a Nigerian politician, philanthropist and a member of the 10th Senate from Osun Central Senatorial District. Fadeyi, a member of the PDP, defeated the incumbent Nigerian Senate spokesperson Senator Ajibola Basiru of the All Progressives Congress. Fadeyi is the founder of the Ajagunla Foundation, a non-profit organization.
