Ajilon Jasper Nasiu is a Solomon Islands public servant who served as the sixth Speaker of the National Parliament of Solomon Islands from 2014 to 2019. He was replaced by Patteson Oti. [1]

Allan Kemakeza was the prime minister of Solomon Islands from 2001 to 2006. He represented Savo/Russel Constituency in the National Parliament of Solomon Islands from 1989 to 2010 and was most recently Minister of Forestry December 2007 to August 2010. He previously held the office in 2000–2001,2006–2007,and 2014–2017;in all,he has served over nine years as prime minister. Fred Iro Fono was a Solomon Islands politician,serving as the country's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Rural Development and Indigenous Affairs from December 2007 to August 2010. He was a member of the People's Alliance Party and represented Central Kwara'ae Constituency in the National Parliament for thirteen years from 1997 to 2010,when he was defeated for re-election by MP Jackson Fiulaua.

The Speaker of the National Parliament is the Speaker of the National Parliament of the Solomon Islands. The position was established under section 64 of the Constitution of the Solomon Islands of 1978,when the country became independent from the United Kingdom. It is similar to the position of Speaker of the House of Commons in the U.K.;the Solomon Islands is a Commonwealth realm and maintains a Westminster system of government.
General elections were held in Solomon Islands on 3 April 2019 to determine the composition of the 11th Parliament. The election was the first to occur since the conclusion of the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI) in 2017. Parliament passed amendments to the electoral act in 2018 that included the introduction of pre-polling,a significant increase in campaign budgets for candidates and stricter penalties for individuals committing electoral offences such as vote-buying. Ten of the thirteen parties that contested the election won seats,and the Solomon Islands Democratic Party and the Kadere Party were the parties that secured the highest amount,winning eight each. However,as in previous elections,independent candidates won the largest share of seats,securing 21.
The 27th South African Parliament is the sixth Parliament of South Africa to convene since the introduction of non-racial government in South Africa in 1994. It was elected in the general election of 8 May 2019 and consists of the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces. The National Assembly contains 400 members,while the National Council of Provinces contains 90 members. It was formally opened by President Ramaphosa's State of the Nation Address in a joint sitting on 20 June 2019.
