Akhlaq Qureshi (born 7 February 1962) is a Pakistani-born former Italian international cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler who first played cricket back in the 1984/85 season. He made his cricketing debut for the Lahore City Whites in 1984,on the losing side of a Patron's Trophy match,where he scored 50 in the second innings. [1] He later played 3 List A games in the 1998 Wills Cup. [2]
His cricketing career found a new lease of life when he moved to Italy and decided to represent the new Italian team. He played in their first registered match,against Ireland in the 1996 European Championship,in the 1997 ICC Trophy and in the 1998,2000 and 2002 European championships. [2]
While playing in Pakistan,he was a lower-order batsman,however,by 1998,he had moved to the middle order for the Italians,also bowling economical medium-pace. [3] [4]
Nathan John Astle is a former New Zealand cricketer,who played all formats of the game. A right-handed batsman who played as an opener in One Day Internationals (ODI),while batting in the middle order in Test matches. In a career that spanned 12 years,Astle played 81 Tests and 223 ODIs accumulating 4,702 and 7,090 runs respectively. As of 2022,he is New Zealand's fourth-most prolific run scorer. Astle collected 154 wickets with his medium-paced bowling at the international level. He holds two records –scoring the fastest double century in Test cricket and the second highest individual score in the fourth innings of a Test match. Both the records were achieved when he made 222 against England in Christchurch in 2002. Astle was a member of the New Zealand team that won the 2000 ICC KnockOut Trophy. His innings of 145 not out is the highest individual score by a batsman in the ICC Champions Trophy,which he scored in the 2004 tournament.
Neil Alan Mallender is a former English cricketer. Born in Kirk Sandall,Yorkshire,Mallender was a right-arm fast-medium bowler and a right-hand lower order batsman who improved as his career progressed. He played first-class cricket in England for Northamptonshire and for Somerset (1987–1994). He also played for Otago,captaining the side in 1990–91 and 1991–92.
