Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono,commonly referred to as SBY,is an Indonesian politician and retired army general who served as the sixth president of Indonesia from 2004 to 2014 and the second Indonesian President from the military after Suharto. He founded the Democratic Party of Indonesia,he served as the 4th leader of the Democratic Party from 2014 until 2020,8th and 10th Coordinating Minister of Politics and Security Affairs of Indonesia from 2000 until 2001,and again from 2001 until 2004. He also served as the president of the Assembly and chair of the Council of the Global Green Growth Institute. He was also the former chairman of ASEAN due to Indonesia's hosting of the 18th and 19th ASEAN Summits.

The party is led by Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY),the son of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY),who served as the President of Indonesia from 2004 to 2014.

Ratu Atut Chosiyah is a former governor of the province of Banten,Indonesia. She was suspended from office in 2014 because of a corruption case. She held office for several terms. Before her election as governor in 2006,she was the deputy governor under Djoko Munandar starting from 11 January 2002. Djoko was involved in a corruption case and was suspended from office in October 2005. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono appointed Ratu Atut as the acting governor to take over Djoko's administrative duties and she later became governor. She thus became the first female governor in Indonesia. In May 2014,she was formally charged by the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission for alleged corruption. In early September 2014,she was sentenced to a four-year term of imprisonment on the charges brought by the Commission against her. In September 2022,Ratu Atut was released on parole.
Presidential elections were held in Indonesia on 8 July 2009. The elections returned a president and vice president for the 2009–2014 term. Incumbent President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono,elected with a 20% margin in the 2004 election,sought a second term against former President Megawati Sukarnoputri in a rematch of the 2004 election,as well as incumbent Vice President Jusuf Kalla. Securing a majority of the votes in a landslide victory in the first round,Yudhoyono was re-elected without the need to proceed to a second round,scheduled to be held on 8 September if no candidate received a majority of the popular vote. Yudhoyono was officially declared the victor of the election on 23 July 2009,by the General Election Commission (KPU). At the time of his re-election victory,Yudhoyono,with nearly 74 million votes in his favour,held the record for the highest number of votes for a single person in any democratic election in history,surpassing Barack Obama's total of 69.5 million votes in the 2008 United States presidential election. His record was surpassed by his respective successors Joko Widodo who won more than 85 million votes in 2019 and Prabowo Subianto who won more than 96 million votes in 2024.
Legislative elections were held in Indonesia on 9 April 2009 for 132 seats of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) and 560 seats of the People's Representative Council (DPR). A total of 38 parties met the requirements to be allowed to participate in the national elections,with a further six regional parties contesting in Aceh only. The Democratic Party of incumbent President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono won the largest share of the vote,followed by Golkar and the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle.
The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia is one of the apex courts in Indonesia along with the Indonesian Supreme Court. Its primary role is reviewing the constitutionality of Acts (undang-undang). It also has other functions,including resolving disputes over the powers of state institutions,settling disputes over the results of general elections,deciding on the dissolution of political parties,and supervising impeachment. The last two functions have never been exercised by the Court.

General (Ret.) Pramono Edhie Wibowo was an Indonesian military officer who served as the Chief of Staff of the Army from 31 June 2011 until 20 May 2013. He was the brother-in-law of former Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Before becoming Indonesian Army Chief of Staff,he was Commander of Army Strategic Command (Kostrad) (Pangkostrad),Commanding General of the Special Forces Command,Commander of the Military Territory III/Siliwangi,Chief of Staff of the Military Territory IV/Diponegoro,as well as Personal Aide of former Indonesian President,Megawati Sukarnoputri. He died at Cimacan Hospital,Cianjur Regency on 13 June 2020 due to a heart attack.
