Akrum Wadley (born March 13, 1995) is a former American football running back. He was signed by the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He played college football at Iowa.
Akrum was born on March 13, 1995, in Newark, New Jersey to Sheronda Phelps and John Wadley. Akrum is one of five sons. [1] Wadley attended Weequahic High School in Newark, New Jersey. [2] He committed to the University of Iowa to play college football. [3]
Wadley played at Iowa from 2014 to 2017. [4] In his final collegiate game, he was named the MVP of the 2017 Pinstripe Bowl after rushing for 88 yards with a touchdown. [5] [6] During his career, he rushed for 2,872 yards over 536 carries with 28 touchdowns. [7] While at Iowa, Wadley was a communications major [8]

Wadley signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent on May 11, 2018. [12] He was waived on September 1, 2018. [13]
In 2019, he signed with the Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football. [14] He was placed on injured reserve on March 6, 2019. The league ceased operations in April 2019. [15]
In October 2019, Wadley was picked by the Houston Roughnecks during the 2020 XFL Draft. [16] He was waived on January 5, 2020. [17]
In a report published on June 29, 2020, Wadley made allegations against Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz, and former strength and conditioning coach Chris Doyle. The allegations included mistreatment and racial disparities. [18] [19] A lawsuit ensued, where Wadley was a plaintiff. [20] The suit ultimately settled out of court in 2023. [21]
Kirk James Ferentz is an American football coach. He is the head football coach at the University of Iowa, a position he has held since the 1999 season. From 1990 to 1992, Ferentz was the head football coach at the University of Maine. He was also an assistant coach with the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). Ferentz played college football as a linebacker at the University of Connecticut from 1974 to 1976. Since 2017, he has been the longest tenured FBS coach with one program. Ferentz is the all-time wins leader at Iowa.

LeVar Woods is the special teams coach at the University of Iowa, where he played linebacker during his college career. Following his playing career, Ferentz began a coaching tenure. Ferentz coached in the NFL for the New England Patriots from 2008 to 2011. Serving as the tight ends coach for the Patriots in 2011, Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski set NFL records for receptions, yards, and touchdowns by tight ends, and Gronkowski became the first tight end in NFL history to lead the league in touchdown receptions. Ferentz then began a coaching tenure at Iowa in 2012.

They were led by 16th-year head coach Kirk Ferentz and played their home games at Kinnick Stadium. They were a member of the new West Division of the Big Ten Conference. They finished the season 7–6, 4–4 in Big Ten play to finish in fourth place in the West Division. They were invited to the TaxSlayer Bowl where they lost to Tennessee.
