Al Lamberti (born April 14,1954) is a former sheriff of Broward County,which encompasses Fort Lauderdale in southeastern Florida. [1] [3]
Lamberti received a B.A. in criminal justice from Florida Atlantic University in 1981. [4]
Lamberti served in the U.S. Coast Guard at various duty stations,primarily in Miami,Florida. He was also assigned as a special agent in the Office of Intelligence and Law Enforcement,U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. [3]
Lamberti joined the Broward County Sheriff's Office as a detention deputy in 1977. He worked his way up the ranks,becoming a road patrol deputy,then a road patrol sergeant in the North Broward and Lauderdale Lakes districts. He then became lieutenant and captain in the Organized Crime Division. In January 1990,he assumed the position of district chief in Deerfield Beach. [3] He was promoted to the rank of major in 1998. Lamberti then went on to serve as interim chief of police for the cities of Hollywood and North Lauderdale. [3]
On October 26,2007 Lamberti was named sheriff of Broward County by Governor Charlie Crist after Sheriff Ken Jenne was indicted on federal corruption charges. [5] On November 4,2008 Lamberti was elected the 17th sheriff of Broward County. As sheriff,he directed a 6,300-member organization with a nearly $700 million budget with responsibility for law enforcement and fire rescue duties within all 14 cities and towns and all unincorporated areas of Broward County. On November 6,2012,Lamberti was defeated in an election for sheriff by Scott Israel,who became the 18th sheriff of Broward County. [7]

Rothstein has not been connected to the murder,however murder victim Ms. Lewis had been close to Debra Villegas,RRA Chief Operating Officer,whose husband Tony Villegas was identified as the murderer by the City of Plantation Police represented by Scott Rothstein.

Gregory Scott Tony is an American law enforcement officer and serving since 2019 as the 17th Sheriff of Broward County,Florida.
On January 6,2017,a mass shooting occurred at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport in Broward County,Florida,United States,near the baggage claim in Terminal 2. Five people were killed while six others were injured in the shooting. About 36 people sustained injuries in the ensuing panic. Esteban Santiago-Ruiz,who flew in to the airport from Alaska and committed the shooting with a Walther PPS 9mm semi-automatic pistol,was taken into custody by a Broward County Sheriff's Office (BSO) deputy within 85 seconds after he started shooting. The shooting from start to finish lasted 70–80 seconds. Santiago was later diagnosed with schizophrenia and pleaded guilty to avoid possible execution. On August 17,2018,Santiago was sentenced to five consecutive life sentences plus 120 years in prison.
On February 14,2018,19-year-old Nikolas Cruz opened fire on students and staff at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in the Miami suburban town of Parkland,Florida,United States,killing 17 people and injuring 17 others. Cruz,a former student at the school,fled the scene on foot by blending in with other students and was arrested without incident approximately one hour and twenty minutes later in nearby Coral Springs. Police and prosecutors investigated "a pattern of disciplinary issues and unnerving behavior".
