Alan Wayne LeBoeuf (born February 4,1960) is an American professional baseball coach for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball. He played in Minor League Baseball from 1981 to 1988 and was a coach and manager in the minors from 1989 to 2024.
LeBoeuf attended Tourtellotte Memorial High School in North Grosvenordale,Connecticut,graduating in 1979. He then attended Eastern Connecticut State University and played college baseball for the Eastern Connecticut State Warriors. The Philadelphia Phillies selected him in the 28th round of the 1981 Major League Baseball draft. [1] [2] He made his professional debut for the Helena Phillies of the Rookie-level Pioneer League that year. He played in the minor leagues through 1988,when he served as a player-coach. [3]
After his retirement as a player,LeBoeuf became a full-time coach in the minor leagues for the Phillies organization from 1989 to 2000. [1] [2] He was the manager for the Batavia Clippers from 1993 to 1995,the Clearwater Phillies in 1996,and the Reading Phillies from 1997 to 1998. He won the Eastern League Manager of the Year Award in 1997. LeBoeuf then coached in the minor leagues for the New York Mets from 2001 to 2005,the Kansas City Royals in 2006,and the Toronto Blue Jays from 2007 to 2009,before joining the Milwaukee Brewers organization in 2010. [2] While recovering from an illness,he worked in the player development department in 2013 before resuming coaching. [3]
The Brewers added LeBoeuf to their major league coaching staff as their lead hitting coach after the 2024 season. [4]
LeBoeuf and his wife,Laura,married in 1987. They have a son named Mac. [3]
In 2012,LeBouef was diagnosed with multiple myeloma,which had progressed into the rare POEMS syndrome. It developed from a bone bruise in his right hip that resulted from a hit by pitch during the 1985 season that resulted in his body producing too much protein,damaging his antibodies and producing the conditions. [3] He underwent chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant and required assistance walking for five years. [3] [5]
Paul Leo Molitor,nicknamed "Molly" and "the Ignitor",is an American former professional baseball player and manager. During his 21-year playing career in Major League Baseball (MLB),he played for the Milwaukee Brewers (1978–1992),Toronto Blue Jays (1993–1995),and Minnesota Twins (1996–1998). He was known for his exceptional hitting and speed. He made seven All-Star Game appearances,and was the World Series Most Valuable Player in 1993. Molitor currently ranks tenth on the all-time MLB career hits list with 3,319. He is one of only five players in history with 3,000+ hits,a lifetime .300+ batting average,and 500+ career stolen bases.
Hugh Duffy was an American outfielder and manager in Major League Baseball. He was a player or player-manager for the Chicago White Stockings,Chicago Pirates,Boston Reds,Boston Beaneaters,Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies between 1888 and 1906. He had his best years with the Beaneaters,including the 1894 season,when he set the National League single-season record for batting average (.440),a record that has stood for over a century.
Harvey Edward Kuenn was an American professional baseball player,coach,and manager in Major League Baseball (MLB). As a shortstop and outfielder,he played with the Detroit Tigers (1952–1959),Cleveland Indians (1960),San Francisco Giants (1961–1965),Chicago Cubs (1965–1966),and Philadelphia Phillies (1966). Kuenn batted and threw right-handed. After retiring,he managed the Milwaukee Brewers.
David Michael Bell is an American former professional baseball third baseman and second baseman,former coach,and former manager who most recently managed the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB). Over the course of his 12-year MLB playing career,Bell appeared at all four infield positions while playing for the Cleveland Indians,St. Louis Cardinals,Seattle Mariners,San Francisco Giants,Philadelphia Phillies,and Milwaukee Brewers,but played primarily at third and second. Bell made his MLB debut for the Indians in 1995.
Dale Curtis Sveum is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) player and manager. He most recently served as the bench coach for the Kansas City Royals. As a player,Sveum saw action in 12 major league seasons between 1986 and 1999. He was a member of the Milwaukee Brewers,Philadelphia Phillies,Chicago White Sox,Oakland Athletics,Seattle Mariners,Pittsburgh Pirates,and New York Yankees. Following his playing career,Sveum managed in minor league baseball for several seasons before becoming an MLB coach. Sveum briefly served as manager of the Brewers in 2008 during his tenure as hitting coach for the team. He was later named manager of the Cubs after the 2011 season and served for two seasons. His cousin is former Blue Jays All-Star John Olerud.
Donald Wayne Money is an American former professional baseball infielder who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers,and in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Kintetsu Buffaloes.
